geezee sorry! lol.. i just wanted to show mine off!! lol.. I'll stick to my own post them from now on.. lol.. of course, i hope you don't mind my avatar.. is that ok?

How many thread do you need to "show yours off"?

Seriously Bro you're coming off like a one trick pony. :unsure

DOn't know.. are there any more? lol.. j/k.. im just excited to be part of this forum.. thats all.. i don't mean any harm.. There are alot of very smart people here and great props!! Loads of Talent thats for sure!!

Awesome!! Id like to talk to him!! Its not that "Mike" is it? From HmS? Ive talked to him before on the phone. I know his pal worked on the Screen used ones. Also know of a guy that was on set and got some great pics of it.

You know, looking back at the series - I find the gummy bear handlink somewhat date and not very pausible - don't get me wrong, I also loved to see QL, but how could they read the data on it?

And about the handlink - there was one in smoke transparent with lots of decals and LEDs on it, was that a season 1? I found that much more believable...

Yeah the smoked one was used in Season 1 and part of 2. Then they gently worked in the Gummy Bear handlink. The first time we see the Gummy Bear is in "the Great Spontini". And if you pause it and look closely its actually a very very bad version of it! lol.. But after a few episodes they smoothed it out and got it looking alot better and eventually to the one we love now.

i have never seen this one. any other pics or info on it? i'm wondering what incarnation of the few "gummi's" it is. looks early, but i could be wrong. do you personally own this one? either way, it looks pretty cool and a little more rugged! Awesome!

Here's a good screen grab:

I started working on this project apparently 10 years ago. The main thing holding me back was the lack of a laser cutter capable of doing what I want. This week that obstacle was removed when I bought a huge laser machine.

So now I can finish this project finally.
Spent the whole weekend working on preparing the files for the laser cutter.

Will update as I progress.

Did a test in 1/2 inch acrylic. I made mounting brackets in the handlink body by varying the power the laser uses. This gives me nice mounts that fit perfectly to the components. Still not done designing the electronics compartment. But you can see how it is shaping up.

I have not ordered the correct green acrylic yet, so I used some of the darker green for this experiment. It is hard if not impossible to get transparent color acrylic in 12 mm thicknesses. So I had this idea to use acrylic fish tank cement to sandwich together 2 sheets of acrylic then after they cure for 10 minutes cut the part out and see how it looks. Pretty impressive result.

As someone who has had a Gummy and "Calculator" Handlink on the bench for years, it will be great to see a finished version of this prop.
I used 10mm thick clear acrylic as the main body for mine with laser cut coloured transparent acrylic for the non-LED tiles.

Good luck with your build. :thumbsup
