C3P0 Build Thread

PVC parts for 3P0s pipe stand here now. Maybe I can get him standing under his own power next week.

I decided to give away the first threepio helmet as a gift. anyone know how I can cover up the flecking off gold chrome to make it look like burn marks, or carbon scoring? want to try and clean it up a little bit from that terrible chroming job the first company did.

well, try one and it's stable at least... but something tells me my measurement guesstimates might have been a tad off on the height ;o). It'd be nice to have exact meaasurments for the top and bottom pipes, but even pointed in the right direction Istill couldn't find 'em ... god I suck at Google

Well, I finally found the recommended pipe measurements thanks to a user, and even though I cut the pipe almost in half, it STILL looks a tad too tall to me. I think thebottom of the torso should be closer to R2s dome top...oh well, this will work until I get everything else .... hopefully in a few weeks time.

well, I can see why they didn't want R2 and 3P0 there. Not only is it on the second floor, but by the time 8AM roamed around, the place was so noisy and packed, that it was a madhouse trying to navigate. Oh well, maybe next year when episode 7 rolls around. the highlight of the morning by far..

bit of a new year update. I am now next in line for parts to be delivered. I am hoping to have a completed threepio by April. even though I sadly do not have anyone thin enough to wear it. Although at this point, waiting the last mile seems to take forever for parts to come in ;o).

this is a very rough throw together.
since I will never find anyone thin enough to wear it.. i am building this as a static costume. I have no idea yet how I will attach the back legs, as there is really not a peice of sneak in a screw or hide a very small screw to join them together.

maybe tomorrow I will see what I will do with the arms and hands.

3P0 took a lighttumble to the ground so I may have to re think this stand idea. it's not entirely stable.

planning to send off the parts to get chromed soon

I would highly recommend Warrenhouck's stand idea. I originally went with your style but also had balancing problems so I switched to his. Rock solid and doesn't fall over even when nudged.

Glad it worked out for ya. Your 3PO came out fantastic! Definitely something to shoot for for mine. I just got me eye kit and sound board last week...I think having him introduce himself will be super cool and something my guests will get a kick out of
