After starting this build in March this year, I finally decided to do a leap of faith and become part of this community :angel
Before I get to my build, let me just say that ever since I had built the helmet from paper, a passion for prop-making ignited in me that I hope will never stop. Iron Man may have become some kind of "mainstream" armor to build, but nevertheless it´s a challenge for someone who has never done anything like it. My girlfriend not only tolerates, but supports the build, which I couldn´t be happier about
But I digress...
What´s different about this build?
Not that much. The only thing that´d come to my mind is the fact that I couldn´t be bothered to glue the pepakura parts and just decided to tape them, which worked incredible well. The stability hasn´t suffered from it at all and if I decide to make another pepakura project after my TASM suit (haven´t started yet, but it´s definitely going to come after Iron Man), I´ll do it the same way again. Otherwise this should be a kind of typical build, except that I´m thinking about adding the tank missile to the forearm if I can get it to work *somehow* :lol
I´ve built every part from robo3687´s Mark IV files and layered them both sides with epoxy resin at this point.
The helmet and the chestpiece have been hardened with fibreglass on the inside as well, I´m hoping I´ll be able to do the back today so I can soon merge them to one piece that I can just put on like a shirt. My girlfriend taped the two together around my chest last month to see how it fits and I have to say it´s pretty neat :rolleyes
***update*** back fibreglassed
***update*** chest and back connected, forearm parts fibreglassed
Without further ado, here are the pics, I hope you like them:
