The Star-Lord/Peter Quill Sling Bag thread

Hi not sure if already been mentioned as not read this whole thread. The bag looks a lot like the healthy back back again as it's teardrop shape. Thinking of getting one and adding bits

After getting through all the Halloween rush orders I finally had a chance to breath and return to my bag project. Just a small update this time:

Comparing multiple reference photos and test fitting the length of the bag hang on my own stature I trimmed the remaining piece of leather for the strap.

Then I stitched it and for extra strength I glued the straps in place before adding the rivets.

Also, thanks to Capn_Jack_Savvy for posting some higher res screen caps of both compartments inside the bag on the definitive costume thread. They were very helpful!

I created this gif as well:

(sorry for the bad lighting. I'll take better pics soon)

These rivets looked a little small when compared to the reference images. And I just so happened to source some screen accurate caps/shells that fit perfectly bringing them up from 12mm to 14mm.

For the shoulder pad section I used an existing shoulder strap I had on another bag for size reference

Pratt is a pretty tall guy (6'2"). I'm only 5'9" so getting the dimensions and position of everything on the strap as screen accurate as possible while still getting the bag to hang at arms length for me was difficult. I chose to shorten the distance around the shoulder area, so mine is about 2-3" shorter.

Then there was the decision on what rivets to use. I found these screen accurate ones that were silver instead of gold.

And even though they are screen accurate in style, they just didn't look right so I opted for the smaller 8mm brass in the same style as the rest of the bags

All that's left is distressing and cleaning up a few odds and ends. Coming up on the home stretch!

Soulinertia, that looks incredible!

Is everyone just tackling this in their own way, or is there a good template for the bag pattern available somewhere?

Got some of the correct (and some almost correct) buckles in yesterday. If 2-3 people need them I can help you out... I'm going to use a couple of the 45mm stainless/silver ones on my rocketeer pack. The proper buckles for that are near impossible to source, and this will be a nice nod to another superhero franchise.

I'm including the bag templates for anyone who ordered more than 1 sheet of fabric from me. Your order will go out on Monday D. :thumbsup

Do the templates you're sending include measurements for the leather panels and other sections as well? Psyched to see them!

Was it just the trapezoid templates or was there another template fire the bag itself?

I included 3 templates:
1. The darker fabric trapezoid shapes
2. The lighter bag fabric shape with the flap (as seen in StarLordGoG's photo in the post above)
3. The leather backing that makes up the complete bag shape

Did you not receive them in your package?
