Gone but not forgotten.
All done. What a great kit and a fun build. Thirty one LEDs lighting 7 engines and over 500 windows using 170 feet of .5mm fiber optic.

Wow.........

Most impressive.

Yours is finished, and I am just starting mine. All your WIPS are helping novices like me attempt things we never have before. I certainly doubt I can get my Zvezda finished in such a quick timeframe you did yours, but these beauty shots do give me some impetus to get cracking on it.

Quick question though: the ventral main hangar bay is lit with 3 FO drilled into each concave? It almost looks like you carved slats for light and powered them up with picos.

Thanks guys. The hanger was lit by three fibers in each scallop. No carving, just drilled holes for them.
Completely stock yes, except for the garbage chute and lighting.

Very nicely done! I'm a little surprised with how bright the .5mm FO is. That is a tiny diameter for producing such a bright spot of light. Shows up really well.

GREAT job! Robiwon. The pics look great and the lighting really came out wonderful. I'm especially impressed with the floods in the recessed trench area. Really looks great.

Thanks guys, and again, the lights are not as bright as they are in the pictures. That's just a byproduct of my camera phone. I really should invest in a proper digital camera. Those picco LEDs for the trenches turned out nice. I plan on using more of them on my second SD build this summer

Finished off the 3D printed Tantive IV this morning. I added laser canons from stretched sprue and replaced the antenna that had broken off with a new one. The antenna was made with stretched sprue and the thinnest piece of paper (from a pack of chopsticks) I could find. The ship was mounted to a metal wire and added to the SD's base. I'll get more pics of the final set up tonight. The 3D print is just a wee bit smaller than my Anigrand, but not by much. It's hard to get good pics of something so tiny!

And what a friend on FB said I must have looked liked.

I decided I was not happy with the R1 paint scheme (mostly white) and decided my original grey wash just didn't enhance the details enough. I got my oils out last night and mixed up a nice dark grey, but not black oil wash. I applied that with a 2 inch brush over the entire model. I let that sit for about 30 minutes. I then took a clean rag dipped in Turpenoid, and wiped down the surface. Wow! What a difference. The nooks and crannies now pop with detail, it's still white but with a much warmer grey tone instead of the creamier white tone. So much happier now. I'll do another set of pics tonight as I also have the Tantive mounted as well. In the mean time, here is a teaser picture.

Very nice!! I like it much better. I know there is evidence, strong evidence that they were painted white, but that almost never translates as well in pics as one with a slight grey tint to it. Your teaser shot looks exactly like the pics I've seen and what it came across as on the big screen. Can't wait to see more!!
