1/72 Bandai Red 5

I think it was the paint I was using. It was some middle of the road black from Michaels. I went over it again HEAVY with some dark mud from Migs line. Looks MILES BETTER! I still prefer the DRY sooty look over this. I am hoping that once the oil dries and its hit with a dull coat that it will take down some of the shine were the oil is.

Some pastels/weathering powder will also help with a dry, sooty look

My thoughts also. Pastels are incredible. Almost any effect by airbrush can be replicated with them.
