Star Wars Episode VII Stormtrooper Pics

Based upon your comments, I decided to create two "idealized" versions of the TFA stormtrooper helmet using my "re-scuplt" as the base.

First, is my idealized helmet. It still keeps many of the details from the actual TFA helmet (it only adds a vocoder). However, I also added a fair amount of pin-striping on the ears, trapezoids, eyes, and teardrops in order to pay homage to the stripes on the original stormtrooper helmets. I also made the tube stripes blue. I like this version because it contains the fresh and new feel of the TFA helmets, however is grounded more in the older helmets.

I also created a "fan-based idealized" version that drew inspiration from your comments. I disconnected the frown from the teardrops and added the rear trapezoids just to see how it'd look.

Hope you guys enjoy my experimenting!

I shot a bunch of pix in Anaheim, take a look. I hope there's something that is helpful to somebody. Includes the original Stormtrooper armor on display at the Anovos booth and in the Force Awakens display, plus the snowtrooper and flametrooper armor.

Just keep in mind this particular shot is an anovos copy not the screen used suit. The screen suits were with the orange background.

StarWars, I like your re-sculpt. One thing popped out at me...

I compared the profile of a screen used ANH stormtrooper helmet (in green) to the profile of a TFA stormtrooper helmet (in red).

I'd say start with a ROTJ Stormtrooper helmet. For whatever reason -- intentional or un -- when they made the helmets for that film they ended up "pinched" and, as a result, are longer and narrower than the ANH/ESB versions. You don't need to "screw it on" as with the earlier helmets, and they still like Stormtrooper helmets, but side-by-side you can see the difference. With the TFA helmets being a further evolution, I'd think going forward from the ROTJ version makes the most sense. SHape and details. Remember how much more black trimming there was on the ROTJ, also...

Really? I asked at the Anovos booth, and they said the one on display was made for the production. Not the helmets in the cases, I was talking about the full suit out front.

The only production suits I'm aware of were the ones with the orange background. I"m pretty sure the ANOVOS suit was their version that the 501st was wearing. But I'm not 100% in the know, so I could be wrong.
Got Maul; care to comment?

Ah, you are completely correct. I took that very fact into consideration while drawing my "re-sculpt". The RotJ helmet had a "pinched" look that only affected the horizontal length of the helmet profile, not the vertical. Thus, both ANH and RotJ helmets have the same height. So, when creating my re-sculpt, I only changed the height of the shorther and longer TFA helmet to better meet the height of ALL the original helmets (leaving the horizantal length to be slighty more than the ANH helmet, just like the RotJ helmet)! Simply by lowering the "jaw line" of the TFA helmet an shaving a tad bit off the front (to create a sharper angle) it drastically changed the overall appearance to be more inline with the originals. Sorry for that little confusion!

Hi Karl ! That statue at our booth was actually a reproduction and basically a copy of the ones that you saw on stage behind JJ. In fact, everything at the booth was a reproduction. What they might have been referring to was that the casting and molds were taken off a production made outfit, but that was about it. We didn't show the production made outfit at all.

Hey Maul, sorry if i've missed it elsewhere, but do you have an idea of the preorder date for the E VII armor?

I think these are both great looking! The grey lines might be a bit too much, however I still dig the added white. Had they proportioned the helmet like your edit and added that section I think I'd be 100% on board this design, instead of on the fence.

The grey lines and added modification slook pretty great! I would also limit the lines though. They should stay within their own area and not extend over the eyes. Like the cheek should have it's own list and the trap should be the same. But this is my opinion of a fictional design that is not my own, but yours :)

What I meant was, I am having a difficult time deciphering what the text could say/mean. I think someone used to staring at the characters might be able to offer a second opinion. :)

hi,
just found this one on the net:

and also captain phasma...

il_570xN.772769223_mem2.jpg

dont know if anyone already saw this and I m not really into the ep7 stuff right now though.

but I think the details on these are really interesting. I guess these are no licensed helmets, but they seem to me like recasts from the movie because every detail looks right. and because they are not painted, you can see all the details, just have a look at the areas around the stormtroopers visor.
