New Revell light and sound Falcon

Yeah saw it on SSM,......Its based on the wrong Falcon,.....they must have used the FM kit as a guide

I hope the more skilled models are more accurate

I don't know how good the electronics are, but this thing is a lot cheaper than any Falcon lighting kit I have seen. Just put the innards into a better model.

Has anyone noticed that she has changed. I mean like there are new parts and pieces on her?

Well she has a new dish

^^^ Makes me cry to see a new Falcon come into the world deformed from birth. :cry

In all seriousness, this is the 21st century. We have 3D printing. We have Bandai making cheap kits that accurately recreate their subjects AND have playability for those who want that. If these kits are just more of the soft detail, box-scale, inaccurate stuff Revell has put out in the past, it's a shame and a huge missed opportunity.

I agree HaJ,.....how can this happen?

....going back to earlier posts on another Revell thread.....I quoted Yorkie from SSM

As reported by Yorkie over at Starship Modeller,....Revell's New 'Force Awakens' Star Wars kits get a price & date of release (Oct 2015)

Yorkie said:
Well, they're not announcing what the kits will actually be but it looks like Revell are releasing 9 kits for the Force Awakens (plus two larger packs for retailers containing multiple models).
Just called 'Easykit Items A to E' and 'Items Build & Play A to D' at the moment.
These are more expensive than the Easy kit pocket models so I would assume they are larger models and the build and play are the snap together kits with lights and sounds.

Goes to reinforce what other have said - a good paint job can make a mediocre model sing, while a crappy paint job can ruin a great kit. They managed to make the FM Falcon kit look like a Hasbro toy. On the other hand, yeah, am interested in the scale of that lights and sounds Falcon, and in the quality of the electronics as a potential donor for my painfully slow HS build.
.
And...is that box art confirmation of the Falcon taking part in a ginormous space battle in TFA?

Hey theres a guy over on Keeper of the Force site,...DocRaven,...who posted comparisons of the Revell L&S Falcon to the FM 144,....roughly the same size

hi her are pics from both falcon kits

I replied:

Its great that you've used the FineMolds kit to compare details to,...& its unbelievable especially on the engine deck how much they've tried to emulate the details,...softer of course,....but all is there

But although they've altered the Elf boxes on the mandibles to the McLaren boxes, pretty much all the details of this kit is of the 32" studio model

Revell made a big deal in saying that LFL gave them the cad drawings of the CG models used in the film,

All Revell Star Wars models for "The Force Awakens" are designed with the same computer data used to create the movie props, resulting in strikingly accurate facsimiles of the vehicles that moviegoers will experience on the big screen.

....but the 32' model wasn't the model used in he film,....so this kits details looks nothing like the Falcon in TFA

On the other hand,....have you seen the Bandai kit?

Yep, it looks like the docking rings on this have been changed a lot, even though the set docking ring matches the original falcon. I'd say they messed up......but I don't think there is a clear shot of the digital versions docking ring well have to see :)

It looks like they used the 32" for reference for the rings, although the sidewalls go ways back,....you can see part of R2's chest,.....which first appeared on the MPC,....then Code 3,....then the Revell Easykit,.....dunno if the new Revell Level 2 sidewalls have been changed

....But R2 lives on

You can see the different, they have changed the original plates that were flat, into angled plates all around, and deepened the details all around

Yep,....the shapes & details are still there,...but they have more depth & theres more texture,.....I love it,.....they've hyper detailed the 5 footer

The 32" was very plain and devoid of much on the sidewalls & rings,.....now it looks naked compared to the CG enhanced & full sized Falcon
