So i had started to work on my first ever weapon build, this is going to be learning as i go kind of experience as i have ever worked on any type of weapon before.

According to the Defiance website the Weapon is Po'Tech so there must an earth based gun under that frame! = Po'Tech, "old Earth technology that’s been cobbled together or jury rigged,"

I used this image as the base for this build - The Pistol Image Credit - Walter Klassen FX

The Wrong - First Approach : to create the pistol base I cut a Solid Block of MDF and Routed away. But after reading up on some about prop making master Harrison Krix on Tested.com. I ended up ditching this Approach.

Harrison suggests making many different Parts instead off making a weapon i one or two solid pieces. This makes total sense, as i did this there was more accuracy in the end.

The Right - Approach

so this time i divided the whole project into 3 different layers.

1-The Base 1st Layer (center)
2- Bigger Detail 2nd Layer (on top of center)
3- Smaller Detail 3rd layer Layer (top most layer)

Cut the 2nd Step Detail

Just the see how it all Fits.

Got some of the smaller profile pieces glued onto the Gun. So 80% of the sides are now complete, but having a hard time confirming the Thickness of the weapon.

Found this screenie showing the front with 2 barrels.

Both Sides Put together are not thick enough, so going to spend some time researching/figuring out the thickness of the weapon. I know we have some great talent here, if anyone has any idea about the thickness kindly let me know.

Shots of both sides together, thickness and scale shown below.

Working on achieving the thickness.

Cut the Center Spine-To sides will glue onto this But Not until later.

All the Layers combined into one.
I am very happy with the thickness of the entire gun.

That hand guard is not strait I would think. just an observation. looks like it curves inwards from the bottom of the handle and then back out were it meets the under section...

Thnx mate! That photo shows it really well. I did notice that in one of the photos as well when i was researching for this pistol. I left that and few other small details out, gonna have to figure out how to achieve those.

Re: Defiance Lawkeeper's Pistol - [Build]

While waiting for the Styrene Order to come in, i decided to go ahead and smooth whatever i got so far.

so first layer of filler/primer goes on.

Re: Defiance Lawkeeper's Pistol - [Build]

Time for not so much fun part-Spend some time sanding and carving out the lines and edges with exacto knife..

Next - i think on this build, instead of bond i am going to experiment with epoxy, lets see how that goes!

Re: Defiance Lawkeeper's Pistol - [Build]

Did some Bondo work - i dislike working with bond, maybe that dislike is because of the lack of experience i have with working with bondo. But i tried my best to work with.

Here is what i so far, will need to smooth it out more, but the smaller detail and to fill in the small pockets i will use styrene.
