The ' Junkster' Pod Racer build - Completed!

Re: The ' Junkster' Pod Racer build

And finally, the completed build. Still may have a little bit more weathering here and there and painting on the canopy on the pod, but it is pretty much finished. Thanks for following this build. The build went fast because, I had already built it. ;) But I am literally a fast builder.

Also try old bass guitar chord wires ...if you have a music shop in town.

Looking really good...

Will give that a try on my next project if it requires one. Thanks for the tip.

Absolutely love it ! Fantastic job ! Everything works well together and the kits parts are well disguised from their original form. The paint color choices are perfect.

Couple of questions.

1. How did you achieve the weathered effect especially on those white pieces ? They look great...

2. Tech question I guess....How did you get your pictures to come up in the forum that size ? Mine are always small then have to be clicked on to open in a pop up window.

Thanks !

Thanks guys. The weathering effects were done using the dry brushing and sponge technique. The silver effect was achieved using the dry brushing technique and the rust effect was achieved using the sponge technique.
Are u familiar with these techniques?

Maybe I can put some eyes on the front of the pod. Any decal suggestions and where I can find them?

I know Hobby Lobby has some stuff like that, if you have one near you. Or perhaps a local hobby shop.
Theres also the printing decal paper where you actually design your own decal then can print it up.

Here is what I've done to make custom decals. I simply purchased white and clear waterslide decal paper.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Lazertran-Wa...411646&sr=8-2&keywords=waterslide+decal+paper

Then you can use a paint program to create your own images. I use Adobe Illustrator, but you could even use the Paint program or just download images you like.

The nice thing about Illustrator is you can scale the images to exactly what you want then print them on the 8-1/2 x 11 sheets. I always print near the edges so I can use as much of the sheet as possible for future use.

Once printed, the most important step is to spray the decals with a coat of lacquer. I use the Testors Dullcoat 1260. Let it dry and spray a second coat to be sure.

Last, cut them out and install as normal with Micro Set and Micro Sol.

This would definitely bring you pieces to the next level !
