Shepherd Book’s backstory was revealed in the comic books that continued the Firefly story. They’re quite good.

I know...
I have a couple of the comic series, but not "A Shepherd's Tale". Either way, I held out hope to see something on the screen about it that may or may not have followed it...guess now I will pick it up.
Never been into comics really, so I guess I'll have to do that as well.
