Yessir. Your Mk25 is looking pretty good. When you finish it, let me know if you'd be willing to swap a couple or three of them for a couple or three of mine.

In other news, I've given up looking to get a War Machine helmet in trade. Instead, it's time to just make one:








So that's started.

So progress continues. Albeit slowly...

Is is there a reason you chose to use Lopez for the majority of the WM helmet? I know material for the objet ain't exactly pennies ;)

Blue masking tape over the clear part of the eyes gives a pretty good idea of how the light will be distributed once the gold tint is added.

It's not terrible, but until they start making a much brighter version of EL tape, this is where it's at.

You've really hit the nail on the head. By carving out the big, smooth pieces in the CNC machine, I can essentially cut the cost of the project in half. Here's how it looks for the moment:


In other news, I'm nearly done with the Mk39:








At this point it just needs a tiny bit of weathering and a couple of red triangles.

Fierfek has a pretty good version in his pepakura files thread. You can also hit up Kenlandrum and see if he has one you can buy.

The other day my friend Matt who helps out with most of my projects hosted a superhero themed birthday party for his two boys. So I brought this guy:


I also brought this other guy:


Yes, I know it's a very lanky Spiderman. The suit was made to fit me and the only guy I could find to wear it that day was at least 5" taller. In any case, standing next to the MkIII, he didn't get any kind of attention at all.

Needless to say, they were a big hit. I'm still very proud of this suit:


Sooner or later I'll get around to building a MkII as well. Also, Clonesix and I are talking about working together to bring the rest of the War Machine to life. I really need to get started on the rest of the parts.

If you ever get the War Machine helmet molded up, I will definitely be in for a cast of that!

I'd definitely like to see a Mk 2 from you. =) Would you do the insane thing and chrome it?

I was thinking nickel plate, but it's the same level of insanity.

I keep meaning to get back to work on that. Right now it sits on the shelf of nearly-finished helmets looking like so:


Which is better than the bench of nearly-started helmets:


Clearly I have some kind of problem...

UPDATE: I've been feeling like I never finish anything lately. So yesterday, after a few weeks on the backburner, I dusted this guy off and drew some triangles on the jaw:


Then I painted them:


While I was at it, I gave the eyes a rough sanding to better scatter the light from the LEDs:


It came out okay:


Today I gave it a light blackwash to pick out the details:


Maybe by this time tomorrow I'll call it finished.
