The bottom of that front screw doesn't look pushed out - I'm going with a thicker (extremely similar) bolt head

I never noticed it on that picture, I just noticed it on the version with less resolution.

You're right, the front bolt head does look thicker.

That seems to be one of those details that most would not want in to replicate on a blaster, similar to the crooked flash hider on the ANH Blaster

Larger bolt for me please!

Here is what Alex and myself came up with for the left side details:

From left to right: Hex bolt with toothed retainer, V8 part and wire retainer with a square bolt. This is for the Han Hoth Blaster.

More than likely, it's the same set up for the Bespin version (this is how I built mine), but I haven't seen a good close up of that version of the blaster on the left side. One or two photos definitely show the motor/coil part and some sort of bolt, which could be the Hex bolt positioned as above.

Well, considering we've ID'd the chopped up motor/coil part as those left side greeblies, I think we've got that area covered.

As far as Luke's blaster goes, it could be a retainer or a chopped motor/coil part. Kinda hard to tell with the photos we have. I have a retainer part on mine.

I have my doubts. I don't know why they would chop up a cast piece of plastic just to create what is basically a spacer. Especially considering all the bolts and other hardware they used on the blasters. Obviously they had access to plenty of hardware. Remember, there was only one motor/coil part in the V8 motor kit box. If they used a second piece it was either cast or from a second box. I think the "lettering" we're seeing is basically an optical illusion.

I think they were tying to replicate the look of the DR parts

I don't think they exactly did it on purpose. Looks like they attached the full piece above the trigger, didn't like it, pried it off and that's what's left

The words are inboard. If they had attached a full piece the words would have been out board

Once they were broken and became two separate pieces there's nothing holding them in line. They could have spun.

edit - Looking again though it seems that the holes are too far apart for that. Maybe it was attached somewhere else and pried off breaking in two pieces and then added above the trigger.
As Vince said it really makes no sense that the pieces were cut down to look like that on purpose.

I don't know.

It seems more plausibly that they had a couple pulls of the M/C part and just cut one up to try and replicate the DR parts

I would guess they used original motor coil pieces on these blasters since we've all seen the ILM workshop photos with stacks of model kits on the shelves. Same with the masters for all the other blasters, original pieces, then the whole blaster would be cast in resin.

Well, whatever the case, those are definitely a chopped M/C part. I think it's pretty cool that we've finally identified those greeblies on the Hoth blaster!

Are there also little greeblies on either side of the Pistons?
