Metrocop helmet, Half Life 2

Re: Metrocop helmet wip

Ah, well that's a relief. I once made a mass effect helmet, and although it fitted really well in pep, I forgot to allow extra room for padding.

started sanding. Now starts the long hours of work!

Re: Metrocop helmet (Sanding stage)

This looks stellar. great job so far! I tried to make a clay master recently and it was a colossal failure but this definitely gives me hope. I know it may be too early to bring this up, but I have an idea for the eyes. after reading Sylgian's war hammer space marine build, (http://www.therpf.com/f24/sylgians-40k-space-marine-completed-179602/index6.html) perhaps blue "glospex"may work for the eyes. Just a thought. Best of luck,

Well on holiday in hongkong, I found these big silver mirrored girl glasses. Bought them instantly. The lenses seem like they would fit the helmet very well!

Also, I managed to rip the ingame sounds for the metrocop. A whopping 544 files!
Took ages to sort them.

Everytime i start on a project like this i tend to forget the long hours that go into the sanding.

Worked a bit more on the lid this evening.
Look at that smooth cheekline! My fingers were blue because of the cold outside.
Worth it though!

Re: Metrocop helmet (Sanding stage)

Sooooo yea...

I accidently drop tested my helmet. Had to fix allot of cracks. Still got a few sections to sand such as the eyes. Also trimmed the neck so I can wear it again!

Looks good!

Although... I always wondered but never asked; how -heavy- is that on your head?

Edit: Also, what are you intending on doing with those .wav files? Just curious.

I was just playing the "upgrade" version of HL-2 and noticed again in the scene where Barney takes off his helmet, how he takes off the front of the mask and the rear and ear cups stay on his head.
