Kurtyboy's project updates: 24 July - More blasters

Re: Project updates 13 Feb 2017 - Greedo and Walrusman blasters

That looks good. I'm tempted now.

What's the brass tube doing there?

I like having it a functional airsoft!

And I don't have the proper parts to finish it off like yours. :)

Re: Project updates 13 Feb 2017 - Greedo and Walrusman blasters

Yeah, I like your grip, Dann.

It will still shoot if you shorten that brass barrel to just inside the engine cylinder.

Re: Project updates 13 Feb 2017 - Greedo and Walrusman blasters

Dann, how thick was the styrene you used? Did you do multiple layers?

Awesome and inspiring work, as always!

Re: Project updates 26 March 2017 - Bapty E11 stunt completed.

Great work buddy.

I really should have taken the chance to buy the cast parts from you, even if the receiver section was a tad too short.
Really want to upgrade my own stunt E11 at some point.
I see you managed to attach your accurate/ wider T-Track...what was your approach?

I also see you finally upgraded your hero E11 with the 14pin sockets/ chips, glad of being "inspirational" to you ;)
I put it on some of mine as well and really like the effect.

Re: Project updates 26 March 2017 - Bapty E11 stunt completed.

Finished my Bapty E11 stunt today.

That large amount of work you did paid off. The only thing you can't really replicate is the grain in the wood. Must be pretty solid being made of solid aluminum.

Also, what's the reference for the 14 pin chip on the scope?
IIRC, they put one on the side of the DH-17.

Re: Project updates 26 March 2017 - Bapty E11 stunt completed.

Yup, it's pretty heavy. There are some ANH E11s with what look like the chip socket and others are taller making it look like the chip is also present.

Oh look at that, I haven't updated for over two months.

Re: Project updates 26 March 2017 - Bapty E11 stunt completed.

Very nice work, you always turn out a great end product

Project updates 2 July 2017 - Leia mannequin upgrades

I'm back with a few updates of the last few months...

Bought a display bust with flexible arms so I could adapt them to my Princess Leia mannequin.

leiamannequin1.jpg

leiamannequin2.jpg

Flexible silicone hands and forearms. Due to the extremely weak internal skeleton I had no choice but to use a lightweight hollow plastic Rubies toy.
leiamannequin3.jpg

Seamlessly attached the head to the mannequin like I did with my Han and Luke.
leiamannequin4.jpg

Fiberglass.
leiamannequin5.jpg

Filler.
leiamannequin6.jpg

Primer.
leiamannequin7.jpg

Mixed up three shades of flesh tone and applied with a sponge from dark to light.

Rubies toy conversion complete.

Re: Project updates 2 July 2017 - Leia mannequin upgrades

Very nice!

Because you've been able to source out so many real parts, I've got to wonder if those bits in his belt are real or replicas?

Re: Project updates 2 July 2017 - Leia mannequin upgrades

Replicas from very old CE kits.

Project updates 5 July 2017 - RS armor assembly begins and Vader electronics upgrade

Started working on my RS armor.
armor3.jpg

I've only trimmed and fixed one side of the arms and legs so far as I'm not sure where to cut the other sides exactly yet.

I was able to fix the collapsed/crushed right tube with fiberglass.
armor7.jpg

Red oxide primer.
armor8.jpg

White primer. I may end up buying an airbrush so I can spray household paint (going to get a can custom mixed on Friday).
armor9.jpg

I reattached the mannequin's feet at the correct angle so it would stand unassisted without the ankle base.

A rough test fit using white duct tape. I've got most of the correct straps, hooks and snaps etc thanks to Voice in the Crowd. Ordered the remaining elastics today.

I made an all-in-one enclosure for my Vader electronics. Now the belt, chest computer, and breather (amplified MP3 player) are powered by one 9V DC PSU with one switch - one input and three outputs.
