Sucker Punch: The worst movie I've seen in the last five years!

Actually, I got through seeing the whole movie.

Three times so far.

I got to love it.

Ranks right up there with Clockwork Orange.

Put it in it's proper place...don't try to make more out of it.

Awesome soundtrack
Hot as hell Chicas
RARE to see a decent 1950-ish background movie
ANYthing with a Lobotomy CANNOT be all bad
Rare collectable figurines that are excellent sculpts and very sought after / value

Actually an excellent movie. An 'owner' for me.

As with porn skipped through most of the film and only watched the good bits. I think I was done in 15 min.
Viewed that way it was enjoyable.

I thought I was the only one to not like it in the universe hahaha! Damn, I feel better... I didn't like 300 much either... I think it's just the style of Zack Snyder... I'm not a big fan of it... It's visually good but there's something missing that makes the movies "flat" to me... Well at least for these 2 movies...

The "flatness" in 300 is an intentional translation of the story's origin as a graphic novel. I believe that the film wouldn't have worked if they made it look like, say, Gladiator. The story is just too thin to be filmed as a realistic epic but, as an aesthetic comic venture it works well IMO.

Also, there's this:

There are a striking number of coincidences between events in the movie and musical cues (and lyrics) on the 1973 Pink Floyd album, "Dark Side of the Moon". A fan discovered the synchronicity and has revealed all details including the compilation itself through the internet. In a phenomena known as 'synchronicity' the album is played as an alternate soundtrack for the entire film that not only works as a metaphorical piece to the themes shared between the film and music, but also sound cues that act as a sound effect or inner monologues spoken out loud for the characters through the album. A few of the too-numerous-to-name coincidences include (but are not limited to):

Climactic screams to the reveal of the dead mother and the gunshot that kills Amber.

Heartbeats as the girls are at high risk of getting caught or dying as they enact their plan.

"Run, rabbit, run" is heard as the door is kicked down at the beginning and end of the film, mirroring the stepfather kicking the closet door open to reveal the little sister (the beginning) and Babydoll kicking Blue down as the door opens to reveal Sweet Pea in the closet (the end). Babydoll is also running another time this is spoken.

"Don't be afraid to care" as BabyDoll looks through the peephole worried about her little sister.

"Look around..." as BabyDoll turns her head to "choose your own ground." As BabyDoll realizes what she's done after firing the gun, the music shifts mirroring her descent into madness.

The song "Money" plays as Madame Gorski and her counterpart, The Wise Man, gives BabyDoll advice much as the song does.

The three samurai appear to speak as drunken men on the album.

When the main samurai takes a step forward, a loud sound of a footstep is heard as the screen shakes right in tune.

Bells are heard when the cafeteria/theatre is revealed to BabyDoll and later as the bell rings for dismissal of class.

The increasing cries for 'The Great Gig In The Sky' are heard as BabyDoll is crying at night in the asylum and as the baby dragon's throat is slit. The woman's voice seems to mirror the fury of the mother dragon after discovering the dead child.

"I never said I was afraid of dying" Rocket defying the cook and the baby dragon's lifeless body is lifted by its mother.

"Eh" Babydoll appears to say this right in tune with the album.

'Us and Them' as Babydoll takes on the three samurai and the girls take on the train of robots.

As BabyDoll takes center floor to "dance" and the plan is initiated, a heart beats as Babydoll imagines herself in a different place - "The lunatic is on the grass.... remembering games and daisy chains and laughs, got to keep the loonies on the path."

"The lunatic is in my head" as a pilot flies into the head of a blimp with a face.

Many allusions to Rocket's death. There are a couple of instances where Rocket seems as if she is saying things like "I never said I was afraid of dying" and "Why should I be afraid of dying..."

When Rocket is on the train that explodes in the city, drum beats are to the tune of a succession of glass breaking from the blast, BabyDoll looks in in disbelief as the city goes dark (an allusion to the death of her sister) as "I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" is said. Said again as Sweet Pea watches Rocket die in her arms.

"You raise the blade, you make the change..." as the cook raises his knife out of Rocket.

"You rearrange me 'till I'm sane." happens as all the girls walk side by side (all representing different aspects of the "star of the show") and later as their group is torn apart.

"Home, home again" Babydoll closes her eyes and imagines herself (Sweet Pea) going home to her own "paradise."

This phenomenon is known as "Dark Side Of The Sucker Punch". Similar to The Wizard of Oz (1939) in "Dark Side Of The Rainbow".

Mia Wasikowska was fairly bland in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and Sucker Punch has some Carroll-esque similarities, so i'm not sure she would have been a good choice at all.

Fair enough... I guess the choice between Mia and Emily is kinda like choosing between getting shot in the arm or leg. Either way, it's gonna hurt.

‪300 This is Revisionism‬‏ - YouTube

I like what the director of Hannah had to say about Sucker Punch.
“For me, one of the main issues in terms of womens’ place in society and feminism is the sexual objectification of women,” Wright told Movieline in Los Angeles before presenting his latest film, Hanna, to the WonderCon crowd on Saturday. “That’s something that feminists in the ’70s tried to fight against but has been totally lost in the 21st century consumer-celebrity world. So for me, when I look at the poster for Sucker Punch it seems actually incredibly sexist, because it is sexually objectifying women regardless of if they can shoot you or not.”

“I have a kind of immediate, knee-jerk reaction to such iconography,” Wright continued. “I remember when the Spice Girls came out in the mid-’90s and it was all about girl power, but one of them was dressed as a baby doll, do you know what I mean? That isn’t girl power, that isn’t feminism. That’s marketing bull****. And I find it very, very alarming.”

I think the directors quote at the end pretty much summed it up, he just wanted to make a cool looking movie!! where cool action sequences take place, history be damned. I'm sure the director wanted to bash every ethnicity, sexual orientation ext ext. Who are these people and Why do they read to much into movies? ive had this discussion before, and it always boils down to "I'm just smarter then you", cause you pick out undertones that aren't there, crawl out of your own butt dude! (im talking about the video not wuher da brewer)

That kind of makes me want to get it now so I can see what that looks like. :)

This is the only way to see it because the original cam video that the sync was discovered with had some missing seconds in the middle of the film, so that cut was eerily needed for the second half of the film to sync up. Also, if you were to try it with your blu-ray it would work at first but eventually go off sync as the framerate difference from the cam to blu-ray throws it off. I made a blu-ray version by making the exact cuts and deleting a frame here and there to make sure it syncs as it does to the original. You'll find both versions there.

It also helps to truly understand the film and album while having an immense appreciation for its themes.
