Back to the Future Marty McFly Puffy Vest Color BTTF

Interested in your vest. How long does it take to have it made? I need a size large.

Here is our newest vest. Puffier... with all measurements copied from an original Class-5 size medium.

If anyone wants to order one using the standard Class-5 Medium, simply put a note in the comments section about this and we'll make it as requested.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Did you not read my posts about the vest? It is way too light of an orange, the material is wrong as its really shiny and slick, and the pockets are the wrong size and shape. The headgoonie vest is a much better replica and $25 cheaper.

Tell us what you really think! :) Don't worry... we've already sourced darker, non-shiny fabric and are revising our pattern for the pockets, using a flat-bet scan of an original Class-5 vest.

Your vest had an overall accurate shape. It's just the gripes I mentioned that really take away from it. It's very comfortable though so I will use it for the winter months, just not as a part of a cosplay.

Mtias, Do you even own a Class 5 vest? You are making critiques of peoples work and you don't even have an original in your hands to do comparisons.

It's not hard to look at pictures and evaluate what's wrong with something. You just like to make unnecessary comments don't you.

The vests I have would start at $800 at auction. I have been offered much more.

Cool. :thumbsup

So I was able to score a vintage, tan Class-5 vest recently. Any tips on coloring the nylon fabric to make it that accurate burnt orange color? I'm looking into upholstery spray paint (http://www.fabricspraypaint.com/pro...P402/Burnt_Orange_Upholstery_Spray_Paint.html) and DM floral spray paint (http://dmcolor.com/products/terra-cotta/). Wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas/tips. Thanks!!

You can dye nylon, but it involves boiling the piece of clothing.

So here's the final result!
For my first attempt, I used an entire packet of iDye Poly Orange and a teeny tiny splash of Red dye, and stirred it on the stovetop for about an hour. Since it turned out too orange and not dark enough, I tried again the next day. Third pic is my second attempt where I added another splash of diluted iDye Poly Red and boy, its nearly perfect!!!! I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Only thing bumming me out is that the vest seemed to loose some of its puffiness. But otherwise I'm super happy I have an 80s Class-5 vest that is nearly screen accurate :D

Excellent results! After it has thoroughly dried inside and out, you should be able to "fluff" it up again like you would a down pillow. Now... get some thread and add another row of horizontal stitching along the top and you'll be set!
