his eyes are fixed after the tumble broke apart the casing of the old one. dumb ass me, I ordered two sets, one for a backup. I accidentally cut the wires of the first one while opening the package clean off(who packs it that tight?). and the second one, I had it all done, b ut as I was trimming away the excess lights,I accidentally cut the cord close to the battery pack. always something.

third set is the charm.

Tomorrow being a light day, I will try and get the stand finalized. I am going to drill a hole for the second leg to go through the metal plate. I ham going to modifiy the upper leg of the manaquin soit can keep the left leg straight and stable. I am going tocut the shorts further down so they fit better. All that would be left after that is figureout what to do with the arms. thank you goes to the suggester of the mannequin stand. it stablized it perfectly. I just wish the pipes where the same size. I had to screw in the bottom leg pipe to stabilize it.

also, I havn't been keeping total cost of 3P0 as well as R2. but, near as I can figure..

$1560 for chroming legs, arms, arm greeblies, hands.
$585 for Torso and head (with discount)
And I believe for the shoes and shorts it was around $300

I think the head was from Jim Sleeth and about $125
and around the same price for the shorts and shoes.

The rest was all from TK. I can't seem to find the prices. but the torso, arms, legs and hands where all the TKs wearable threepio project,
I'd estiate threepio cost about $4,000-$6,000. half of it on chroming half on parts.
After this, Iam going to be finishing up Geoff Peterson, and taking a long savings break. If I do ANYTHING As a grand finale, it will be saving up to buy a 1982 trans am.

shorts cut. he fits a little b etter. hoping for final stand fixes tomorow. minus arms

a little more progress on threepio. I finally go the last of his arm details on. hopefully in the right place. couldn't find good pictures of his arms at all.

Finally got his back legs on. probably not what most would do, but for me, it was the simplest, quickest solution

the shorts I think still need work, but they fit better now. they just don't look pretty

the last thing to do is to install the little leg circles but I don't get those done till I set the shorts right

the arms jsut arn't going to work as they are now. it's too hard to get the pipe in there without shaking everything loose...and if you don't tighten it, the pipe falls out and the arm falls to the ground. last thing to really fix it.

I had the pipes attached first and secured so they don't fall out. Then I slid the arms on. I have d-rings attached to the shoulders of the skeleton and hooks epoxied into top of the arms that hook on. I also padded everything up first before putting the 3p0 parts on.

any pictures? I do have the arms screwed in in places, and on one of the arms, attached to the actual threepio arm itself with a screw. I just wish it would slide intothe shoulder a little easier. if I push it, the stand starts to fall apart.

No update on 3P0 finish.
The stand is pretty much finished. I still plan on adding a bit of padding for the torso so it stays even with the body.
But I haven't gotten around to see if I could get the D Ring suggestion working on my setup for the arms. The arms and the hands are the last thing needed to setup to make the display complete. once I get that done, It's finished.

doing a second 3P0 head for a local radio charity auction. if you want to bid on it, I'll post links, but you would have to be in NY area to pick it up. I don't think they do shipping.
I'll post pictures of the construction process once it gets going. I'm trying to be very careful with this one, because I want it to be perfectly 100% stable, so that the winner who takes it home doesn't have to worry about doing maintenance on it.

Building the new head for blythdale charity auction.

I already made one mistake. somehow the 'ear' tab broke off despite being really, really careful.
I'm going to have to secure an attachment if it's needed. hopefully no more errors finishing it up tomorrow.

Almost done. everything fits properly. Just need extra screws for a final assembly test arriving today....and if everything is good,
off to get golden next week. I'd really like one extra long screw to attach the neck in to the pipe in the center..but not sure I can find one that long. if not, i'm going to have to use the neck bolt holes and see if I can get it to match up that way.

the neck added in makes it ten times more stable.
hopefully you can all bid on this in december to help raise money for a local kids hospital.

I did make one small goof. the screw hole eto secure the top part of the mask into place went right through the 'hole' at the top..so the screw will be visable. but other than that, it didn't turn out too bad.

Eyes are ready for when he comes back from coat of chrome. he got sent there yesterday so should be there now.

hopefully I did my job right and everything re-assembles perfectly so it will need only a little glue to hold itself together. not sure yet if I should drill the battery back into the bottom of the head to keep it in place.or just stick/glue it in.....it's not really stable with the latter.

My display for halloween this year.

the ONE guy who knew who crow and servo was was dressed up as Drew Carey (I think), while wife and kids where dressed up as doc brown and marty mcfly respectively.
He said he wanted an R2 for christmas now, and wasn't shocked when I told him his $8,000 estimate wasn't that far off ;o)..

might be a member here lol..
