Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

Bottom Line for me is that we need some imagination from Disney and not another remake like TFA, they do have a whole fictitious universe to play with so why, why can't we have originality...
I'm more than happy for their second go at a Star Wars movie to be considered the 'ESB of the new trilogy' but NOT THE SAME STORY...

Last year, Hollywood was hit hard with the death of Carrie Fisher, leaving Star Wars fans mourning for the loss of Princess Leia. After grief had passed, many wondered how the saga would proceed without Carrie Fisher able to return to the franchise. The actress had already completed her shooting for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but what would happen to Leia without Carrie Fisher around to give her a proper send-off?
Lucasfilm and Disney have already confirmed that visual effects will not be used to bring Carrie Fisher to life on the big screen again, even though they recently achieved the feat of bringing Peter Cushing back as Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Instead, it turns out we’ll see Carrie Fisher returning for Star Wars Episode 9 thanks to existing footage of the actress.
The latest update on how the Star Wars saga will handle the passing of Carrie Fisher’s comes from the actress’ brother Todd Fisher. He spoke with The New York Daily News recently and revealed that he and Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd (who also has a small supporting role in the new Star Wars movies), granted Disney and Lucasfilm permission to use existing footage that was shot for The Last Jedi, as well as The Force Awakens, in order to allow General Leia to appear in Star Wars Episode 9. Here’s what he had to say:
“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t. She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue… To me, Star Wars is the holy grail of storytelling and lore and you can’t mess with it.”
The biggest question is what will happen to General Leia in order for us to say farewell to the character in the Star Wars saga? We know that Star Wars: The Last Jedi hasn’t been altered to account for the passing of Carrie Fisher, but since we don’t know what happens with her character in that movie, it’s tough to predict how we might see her appear in Star Wars Episode 9.
Though visual effects won’t be employed to create new “footage” of Carrie Fisher in the same way that Peter Cushing was brought back to life for Rogue One, the footage from The Last Jedi will need to be repurposed for use in Episode 9. So it’s likely visual effects may be used to digitally place General Leia in different scenes, or to have a stand-in appear and have dialogue from previously shot footage come from off-screen. It all depends on what kind of scenes we’re talking about. Hopefully the final moments fans get to spend with General Leia will be satisfying.

Tell that to Rian. And guess what? Nothing is 100 percent original. Everything is a remix of elements done before.
Even Star Wars itself is just the Arthurian Tales in space. I did an entire paper in college on how SW was simply just a remix of the stories about King Arthur. I could have written a book on the subject, but the assignment called for something far shorter.

This is a little off topic, but it's a pervasive subject in Star Wars fandoms lately and it has been bothering me, everyone seems to want any character they can imagine to appear as a Force ghost in these next movies. Qui Gon? Of course! Ben? Duh. Leia, Anakin, Ashoka, Yoda, probably even Han. Any time people want a character to appear it's always about Force ghosts.

I personally don't care for the concept. I think the isolated instances in the OT were special cases, areas where the Force was deeply attuned or moving strongly in the moment. I hate the idea that any force user can just learn to be a ghost and pop up wherever, but I seem to be alone in that lately.

The link Bryan posted I don't mind at all. I'm kinda excited actually
So excited for this weekend! I'm going to be streaming the whole thing. I don't care how nice the weather is!! I'll be indoors watching and waiting for this trailer

Nunchucks in SW... They lost me when they said the new Royal Guards are like the Ninja Turtles. I'm trying to stay positive, but please, no.
Its because how the article is written, the guy is trying to be funny and witty, and it falls flat. The whole article, while has bits of information, was an annoying read. I bet if a better author had the same info it would have been more enticing. Im not a fan of snokes design though, even from what I got from that article. Im still pretty sketch about this movie... I dont know if I should learn more, or stick my head in the sand until december when I see it.

I agree with you.
But now I need a Force ghost Leia in my Star Wars.
Just her, though. No one else.
I think one of the great thing about the prequels (and the cone wars) was that they went into more detail with the force ghost. I like that it was something that only certain jedi could tap into if they worked on it

Mind you, that whole concept is dead considering that Anakin became one at the end of Jedi

I would rather we see her as a hologram like Galen, depending on her fate in the franchise. I thought his recording for Jyn was one of the most emotional parts of Rogue One, and seeing a posthumous Leia recording would be much the same in my eyes. Admittedly a lot of how I picture it hinges on my personal opinion that Rey is Han and Leia's daughter, with the final recording being that revelation to Rey, yet after both of her parents are gone.

why?

whose to say the people yoda met only worked with GOOD Jedi?

we don't know how much time passed between that episode and episode 3.

could be possible yoda or obi wan told anakin of what happened or he learned it from r2 somehow.

If I remember the timeline,

Qui gon appeared to Yoda nearing the end of the clone wars. Then yoda went on his private vision quest (with artoo. but he didn't tell artoo what it was about) where he learned to delve into the force to become one with it.

But then he didn't tell anyone about it until after the clone wars had ended and Anakin had fallen. Then he told Kenobi and told him to explore this while he was in exile on tatooine.

So unless, becoming a force ghost was a sith trick, I don't know where Anakin would have learned it. Who knows, maybe through his redemption the force chose him?

Make sure to tune into Good Morning America tomorrow morning... is this TLJ related? OT related?
