This shouldn't be too hard for our 3D printing members here :) I thought it looked more silver than white in the film, but here's the VD photo. Did the red parts light up? Can't remember.

I was wondering if someone was going to bring this up. I thought it was silver as well. I think the scene were it was first handed to Poe on Jakku would be the best to check the color of it. I don't remember it lighting up. I've heard the movie is already floating around online in HD...
 
Just got back from the theater. Yes, you can see there are some blue lights in the bottom when Poe puts it in BB8's drawer at the beginning. That's the only time I noticed them though.
 
It would figure if the side that we don't see has something that lights up when it's activated.. I also noticed that when it gets dropped into the drawer Poe has it in his hand so that you can barely see any of it.

I've got a few plans for this and some 3D sketches. Going. It def lights up

Saw the film again last night and I'd swear this is a dark metallic grey in the movie instead of the white colour in the VD...
 
Here's my first take on this. In the scene where he get it from Lor, for a fraction of second it looks white. the scene where Poe gets it to put into BB8 to complete the map...it looks black/grey.

this 100000000% free hand, at best the measurements are relational. was a side project while wrapping gifts :D

I'm sure we'll get closer and closer. 3D printed, sanded and painted with finger paints the kids were playing with :D

last time I went to the theater I paid attention I swear when he takes it out of the bag for the first time it's white with red dots and a blue little led. then the rest of the movie it's just a metallic metal color not paint at all
