Assassin's Creed Unity-Arno Dorian Costume

I am looking at making a full costume of the new assassin, Arno Dorian, from Assassin's Creed Unity. I however am having troubles finding a pattern for the type of coat he wears and want some help with finding it. From what research I have done it seems to be an male redingote or a greatcoat so that may help you some. Any and all help will be gratefully appreciated and i will continue to post updates on my costume for any interested. Thanks and have a great day! Also if any of you have ideas about the type of french sword that would be helpful. The Video says it is a french cutlass but I'm not sure if that is an actual sword. Again any suggestions will be taken into consideration and found to be very helpful. Thanks Again!

*Update* I may have found the sword or one that looks extremely similar. It is an 1816 french cavalry sword which dosent fit the time period although it looks almost exactly the same. Have a look for yourselves. The 1816 sword has what appears to be the same blade width, length and slight curve as Arno's has my only problem is it is a 19th century sword which doesn't fit the time period. This however could be the sword that Ubisoft based their model off of which I am fine with as they look very similar. As always any other insight would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!

That does look nice, I recently made a phantom blade and plan on finishing this cosplay
Any ideas/suggestions for the jacket he wears? I have been unable to find any patterns that fit the design. Also on the phantom blade how did you achieve the little details on the limbs?

On the limbs I used a paint marker and just freehanded the design, as for the jacket I am facing the same problem right now

Well, I mean, that certainly covers the basic shape of the jacket. Well, except the jacket ends don't go to a point, they continue straight like a duster or a trench coat. Also the leather Lapel is broken into two pieces and the shoulder beaks are a little bit too long and it's missing a few key seam lines especially around the armpit. But overall it's fine.

As far as pattern goes, you're probably going to have to draft allot of it yourself because of how many extra bits there are especially around the shoulders. Search for Frock coat patterns.

Hope this helps!

Hi Great find on the sword.
I was thinking of buying some thing like this
U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry War Replica Sword

and creating my own hilt and handle to match tumblr_n6ysomNK8z1sxg0bpo5_1280.jpg

nice are you going to post your progress?
I really want the axe used in the trailer also.

i'd love to have a damascus axe head like the Man at Arms guy makes in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa0FVYxbVWk
but I'll probably have to make i myself.

I am eventually going to make one of the other co-op characters, but today i made the Axe from the trailers out of PVC, expanding foam, Tasmanian oak wood and covered the head in Aluminum Tape.

So I have decided to put this project away for a while. I am still having trouble with the jacket as well as finding the other vest pieces, this along with the fact that my local Renfaire is fast approaching and I want a costume for that means that this project must wait. I'll be back on this forum with any updates once I get back to this but for now adios!

So I am back. After sitting down and doing some thinking I have decided to not do the musketeer costume and do this instead. With that said I may have found a base for my jacket

I think that after a few modifications this should work for the main jacket.

So I am fun at going to start construction. The PVC will be used for the blades on the hidden blades and the bolts for the phantom blade. The rest will be used to make a spear. The aluminum bar will be the core of the French cutlass for stability and I will cover it in foam. I will post pictures when ever I can.

Looking forward to your progress! I'm planning on making Arno and Elise for my husband and I, would be great to exchange ideas!

I made my Arno costume using EVA- foam underneath the fabric for the shoulder pieces to keep them nice and straight and armor-like, I also used white textile paint to touch up some edges and weather the costume, because I think weathering is one of the most important steps in costume making.

And please like this picture on facebook, it's part of an Assassin's Creed contest I'm trying to win: https://www.facebook.com/UbisoftBel...47071723144/10152582303758145/?type=1&theater

Hi again, I have made the patterns I used for my Arno costume, it's only for giving a rough idea, maybe it can help for some parts of the coat. I must though say that the proportions on these are not at all right. it's just a quick digital sketch of all the seperate patterns
