Please help with hoverboard parts

$120 is a good estimate for cost of MATERIALS! possibly more depending on how many trays are used.

I am printing out a magnet and hold down now. Expect pics tomorrow!

I can imagine it can get quite expensive! You're lucky to have access to the machine and materials...

Are you going to print out the other hold downs as well? Can't wait to see pictures! :love :thumbsup

I want to wait on drawing the outer hold downs until the magnet is agreed to be accurate. I am doing this so I dont need to redraw the part several times like I have been doing with the inner hold down.

Here are some pictures.
I think I missed a MAJOR flaw in my battery design. It isnt big enough!
I put a tape measure to my current model (in RED) and realized that if I put it to the same position as one of the screen used boards I am 1/8 to 1/4 too short on the battery. I think I am really close with the magnet and hold down, though I think the hold down needs to extend about a 1/16 of an inch towards the battery.

Oh wow... The new disc looks 100% spot on! I think you are done with it. :)

Strange what happened to the battery box... double check the width because the ratio of width and length seems to be accurate. It may be a simple matter of scaling the entire battery up slightly.

Yep, I agree the hold down should be elongated just a little bit.

Beautiful work,

Grant

Haha I am not going for a Christmas look, just happens to be the plastic that is in the printer right now. Next plastic color should be white.
I am modifiying the holdown to be slightly longer.
Its amazing what I cant see on the computer, POPS when it is printed out.

The longer base hold down is printing out now.
Looking back this all started with a 45 minute drawing of a battery box and now I have a TON of hours into this and I am back to probably another 45 minute drawing.

I would make the battery a bit bigger too... so in general, I would scale the entire battery up about 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch.

Cool!

Do you have to start from scratch on the battery? I think a simple 'scale up' would suffice, as it already looks really good (the ratios of length to width).

Best,

Grant

Okay, I know I am probably talking to myself by now on here, but I already modified the outer hold down to be smaller. I rushed on it to get it done and realized I didnt take into account the camera angle.
I am printing out another outer hold down now!

I'm still here, I'm just well past my ability to add anything other than guesses as to how to change things. As far as I'm concerned, it all looks perfect.

...but by all means, don't stop until you're happy with it! I know I wouldn't.

Keep up the awesome work, as always.

Thanks Nick, I dont want to stop until I am happy and they are the most screen accurate as possible.

Old outer hold down vs new. New is on the left, old is on top. The new matches the inner hold down whereas I rushed on the first one and it didnt match it.
