Batman gauntlets

I have been making a pair of batman begins inspired gauntlets for a friend's fan film. I hammered them out of 18 ga mild steel, blades will be ground from 3/16" steel. Just one question, how are the originals kept shut? I was thinking of using something like the 'turning pins' shown on this site- http://www.eskimo.com/~cwn/arm_15thC.html but I have no idea where to get them.

Progress so far-

very cool, you could possibly use a magentic closure...a friend is using magnets on his boba fett gauntlets and they work quite well.

Thanks for all the replies. I never would have guessed velcro. Since I'm making this from steel I'm hoping to find a latch that is equally sturdy.

Wow, those look like they're going to be heavy. Really cool though, and I'm interested in seeing what you end up doing to close the latch.

Do you intend on lining the inside with anything? If so, industrial velcro (as mentioned previously) can be incorporated into the lining and look nice.

When I make mine, I use velcro.

Finished! Mostly... Just have to clean up the welds and paint them.
I used a strip of spring steel with a pin riveted on it for the latch. Press down on the pin, close the gauntlets and the pin snaps up into the hole on the other side, locking them closed. Seems to work quite well, I usually have to use a pen to push the pin down far enough to take them off.

those are really nice... are you going to tool in any design? you could use paint to add detail, or even airbrush some details..
but great job
