I dunno. I see that costume and while it doesn't look screen accurate, for a storebought off-the-rack costume, it's pretty good.
The thing is, I think Rubies misunderstands its clientele.
Rubies costumes are great for people who don't give even half a crap about screen accuracy and just want a costume that "suggests" a particular character. So, yeah, you're wearing a white lame' suit, but it kinda sorta is supposed to "suggest" a stormtrooper. Ok, fine. And since it only ran you, what, $40? Hey, good enough, right? I mean, bear in mind, these are the same people who'll sell you a GB outfit with basically a beach ball for a backpack. And like I said, for $40 or whatever, sure, worth it if you just want something quick and cheap.
But this thing...$500?! If you're spending $500 on a friggin' costume, you're NOT gonna settle for "eh, good enough" especially if it's a Fett outfit. I've never even THOUGHT abotu attempting a Fett costume, simply because of the expense and effort that'd be involved. But even though I've been scared away by the price/time/effort required for a Fett outfit, why the HELL would I spend $500 for an outfit that is in no way accurate?
Basically, if the market for a costume like this is...well...US, why would they think we'd spend $500 for something that doesn't come close to our standards? I mean, who ELSE would be buying a suit for $500? Who else would spend that kind of money on a costume but a hardcore fan who wants it to be damn near perfect? I'd just figure most fans would either go for the real deal and try to build the PERFECT Fett outfit, or they'd say "Screw it. I'll pay $500 and get an actually screen accurate Han Solo outfit" or something.
