Star Wars.com article on the Gloster Meteor used in many ANH sets and props

This is really neat, I never looked into more than the engine name. God, how many balance pipes they must have had!
 
It's conceivable that they may have had differing engine types I think the BPs were off Mk 9 engines
 
That's a cool article, i work with RR Avon and Olympus industrial gas turbines, so quite often see parts from Gas turbines in films, Guardians of the Galaxy has a main compressor shaft and disc lying at the end scene of the film, its odd when you see bits and recognise them.

Alien has 2 complete Gas turbines in the scene where the alien first kills crew members from above.
