Ian Nottingham from Witchblade

I know a lot of women on this forum have done builds of Sara Pezzini from Witchblade and I'm really amazed by all the different builds and methods they have used for their projects.

I'm starting on Ian Nottingham from Witchblade for Wondercon this year and I hope I can get it finished in time XD

If this comes out well I'll be working on Kenneth Irons later this year.

I'm going for more of a combination of the comic illustrations as well as the action figure

Quick paint of the sword. Need to trim some areas and add more glue to some parts

First arm mold and cast was a disaster lol. Hurts to even talk about it but oh well lesson learned!

Managed to salvage that horrible cast with some Das Roc clay and epoxy putty.

sorry i thought i had posted in the replica costumes section and by the time i realized it i couldnt move it! thanks for moving it for me!

added more hot glue to the sword. it wont be able to fit all the way into the sheath now but i think it'll look better with more sculpting on it.

okay did more sculpting today. i think one more session of sculpting should be enough before i can cast this!

the ring finger cracked when my arm fell against my monitor :( so i am going to hope epoxy will save it

I made a new arm cast using plaster bandages and plaster

sculpted the arm in terracotta air dry clay this time so it would keep its shape better

then came the mold making...

559785_10151300339762007_1959172454_n.jpg

which still cracked in places because i didnt make the mold thick enough (and i should have layered it with gauze or fabric. But it's a lesson learned)

I painted several layers of latex in the mold with layers of fabric in between to make it more durable.

602011_10151303943747007_1493350765_n.jpg

coated my resin gems with gloss

482241_10151304985657007_192595432_n.jpg

And when the latex was dry i trimmed off the excess and sewed the pieces together

The finished katana and sheath:

And I mixed acrylic paint with latex and painted over the finished gauntlet. There is wire in the tendrils to allow for them to be posable
