For anyone interested in a modern NASA name tag for their costume:

I went on a hunt to get the correct name tag. Gibson & Barnes is listed as the source, but when you go to their name tag "Builder" area on the web site, there are exactly zero NASA offerings. You can build a royal blue NOMEX name tag with the other branches' wings- no problem. Add the white border and use silver or gold wings as you feel appropriate. (Note: NASA uses the wings of the military branch you transferred from, if you are military- silver for not space flown and gold for space flown)

There are (apparently) two versions of civilian wings: One with a small NASA "meatball" in the center, which I have never seen on an astronaut, and this one-

Which is the "Mission Specialist" version. I contacted G&B yesterday, and confirmed you can get this Mission Specialist version, or the "meatball" version, no problem at all. As long as you can pick up the phone and use it. PS: you should be clear about if you want the Velcro back or plain back as well. That was not discussed.

(Below clipped from my email with Amanda at G&B):

The wings in the photo are Mission Specialist wings. Below are the details of the nametags in the photo.

The nametag is:

Fabric: Nomex Lightweight Royal

Wings: Mission Specialist (White)

Border: White

Letters: Block (White)

Any other NASA patches you need should come from A-B Emblem. The "official" meatball and the larger, white-border American flag are there

(At the top of the A-B web page, click on "collections" to see the entire list of offerings. They can (mostly) be ordered with or without iron-on backing)
