Fyi, the mangalore rocket they shoot at the bar is the exact same rocket used in the zf. Only difference is paint job, and they put the phoenix decals on it. One was in a profiles auction a while back with some good pics. Theres a thread on the rpf about it somewhere.

So i got my Revell Voyager in the post today, and this got me wondering if any other bits on this kit might have been used on the ZF-1.

The piece i was wondering about was the socket where the cable connects into in the side of the sight pod.

While looking at the back of the Voyager box, i noticed some very similar shapes on the Kazon fighter:

Notice on the back end the two curved cone shaped pieces.

Here is a compare with the lower cone, on the left side of this model highlighted in green:

This looks to me like the right piece.

    What do you guys think?

Might be an idea to check out other pieces from these kits and the Maquis fighter.

Makes things a bit easier when its a found piece rather than having to sculpt from scratch!

It looks to me to be the one above the one you have highlighted in the picture. The angles look incorrect on the highlighted section.
Or maybe the one end needs to be trimmed?

Well the smaller tail bit looks a match....so i think they've trimmed the other end off or its actually hidden in the shadow on the ZF-1.

The voyager part also has the front trimmed off.

Having another look at it and messing with the contrast in photoshop, i dont believe the piece is trimmed.

Here you can see the longer edge, hidden in the shadow:

I just went over to Evil-Bay and purchased a Kazon Kit for pretty cheap....SWEET!

Been following this thread with great interest as this is a project I would like to do. Looking through the parts list I could'nt help thinking parts 1 and 2 on the list- air cylinder and clevis look like adapted car hood lifters with a bit of dressing on the ends of the cylinders ?

Looks spot on to me! Are those called the same thing here in the States I wonder? I thought there in the UK a hood is referred to as a Bonnet...

LDR has it right, that is the piece. On my tv you can see the piece better.

On another note. The way LDR has mounted his Estes rocket is correct also. After looking at more screencaps it looks like some of the guns have the rocket end cut and it's slipped over the aluminum tube and on some guns it is slid into the aluminum tube. I guess either way is correct but both will require different sized tubes. At some point , probably when i start making the rocket, i will try to determine which guns had which setup.

Has anyone started to assemble their pod yet? By that i mean glue the halves together. Any insight as to how you did it? I have plans but would like to see some other routes.

I thought this and have been looking around, but i couldnt find anything that was small enough.

    what length are these?

    I did look here:

    http://www.dceltech.co.uk/products/d...d-control.html

The de-celeration cylinders seem to go quite small....but they arent cheap!

Yes here in the UK, the hood is called the bonnet.

Ive not got my pod yet, so havent been able to start cutting or making it.

The different ones I have looked at seem to avereage out around 50cm long. Not been able to look at any for real only on the net. I guess they could be cut down as they would'nt have to be functional.

I also bought these light balls from Maplins which had the same type hose:

But since comparing to the model, its a little small. Shame as it has a wire inside to keep the shape.

    Back to the drawing board!

I think when i looked into these, measuring other known stuff on stills, im sure they were around 16-20cm long extended.

I was actually thinking of making a working one with servos so the doors opened.

These are from my 911 days. They are for the throttle linkage. Not sure if they are the right size though and they are not chrome. There are chrome ones around for sale somewhere but i can't seem to find the link now. I thought it was McMaster-Carr but i can't find them on their website.

Those shock dampers look perfect mutant enemy. ldr, the light ball hoses were so close ! I'm sure I have seen the centre of the gold aluminum horn button thing, maybe the back of a desk lamp or a speaker grill/vent ?

The metal ring is around 10cm.

I looked at metal tax disk holders, which are close, but none have the right amout of holes.

I was refering to the rear pistons when i said 16-20cm.....just to confirm.

I saw some tax disc holders too but as you say most dont have 8 holes.

I did see one from ripspeed (halfords) that had 8 holes but seems to be discontinued.

Looked at a few steering wheel bosses, some had 8 holes but not the correct profile- chamfered edge.

I forgot about the rear pistons !

Here in the UK we have to pay road tax to the government to drive our cars on the road.
The money is supposed to go towards road maintenance etc. We have to display the paper tax disk in the front windscreen hence the tax disk holder.

Is there a similar thing in the states ?

I also looked at fuel cap surrounds:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

and heres a gold tax disc holder:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Richbrook-Tax-...item519229aede

But nothing has been spot on.

I think with this part it would be easy and cheap enough to get them made, and anodised.
