    I'm new to the Wested Leather "Raiders of the Lost Ark" jacket world.

    I went ahead and ordered one in my regular suit coat size of 42R.

    It arrived today. The quality is great. I have to say, though it is advertised as the more sturdy "street wearable" version, it reminds me more of a leather "shirt" with a cotton lining rather than a leather "jacket".

    Anyway, the fit is great. However, the length of the trunk/body of the coat appears to be somewhat shorter than most of my jackets. The end of the body of the jacket goes only about 2" past my waist band.

    Is this the appropriate length for this jacket??

    I've never owned a Wested but the Raiders-style jacket is supposed to be the shortest of the bunch.

    I would suggest posting this on the COW forums...

    My 42r was a bit too tight in the shoulders so I had LOTS of comments about it's fit before I decided to send it back for a 44...which has yet to arrive.

    Thanks for the comments.

    So, is the Wested "Raiders" SUPPOSED to to have a shorter body/trunk length compared to the other jackets?

    Do you find that the tunk length is shorter than your other standard jackets that you own?

    Like I said, 42R is my standard size. This jacket fits great as far as the chest, shoulder, and sleeve length, it's just the shorter body length that makes me scratch my head a little.

    Yes it's meant to be shorter. About 2" past your belt line sounds fine.

    Agreed, I've owned a Wested Temple of Doom Jacket for a few years and I remembered when ordering the Raiders one was a shorter version.

    It is shorter compared to pretty much all of the other jackets I own . It took a little getting used to. It seems like a very lite jacket but the lamb skin is deceptively tough.

    It's the lambskin version. It's a very nice looking leather and very comfortable.

    It's an extremely lightweight jacket compared to the other leather jackets I've owned the course of my life.

    One thing you have to remember is that Indy's jacket is based on the A-2 Flight Jacket (sometimes referred to as a "bomber" jacket), offically adopted by the Army Air Corps in 1931. For a more complete explanation, here's the history of the Raiders jacket as posted on IndyGear.com:
