Jul 30, 2008 - Watchmen Night Owl Shuriken Throwing star now added #1

Hi. I thought I'd post the pictures of one of the props I did for Night Owl. It's a remote control that runs his ship. It's a step by step of how I made it. The colors might have been changed a bit after I delievered it to production, I think it went more silver. I know the excitement is big over this movie and since the real ship has appeared at the comic con then I probably can post these. Later when I have a bit more time I'll post the flying stars I made too.

    They are here

    www.freewebs.com/ricksprops

    Enjoy,
    Rick

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to the movie, it looks like the aesthetic of the comic is being adhered to...which I love. The Night Owl ship looks great.

Always a pleasure to obtain information directly from the people responsible for the props.

Wow, great stuff! I want your job!

The first two pics I assume are what was sent to you by the production? (Kind of a 'Make one of these' thing?)

Looks like one of your toys from MIB is being sold this weekend:

That's beautiful stuff. And the making of pics just prove the amount of thought and detail went into it.

    Appreciate the pics, Rick!

Wait a minute! I didn't write a letter! Don't be fooled by the letter. I did though make that prop. They should only have an invoice from me for that piece and I sold it to Sony not whomever is claiming they have a letter from me. That letter I know does not have my signiture.

Thanks for the link I will look into it.

    Rick

Update on previous post. I did write it but not for those who are currently selling this item. It was sold earlier to a collector and he contacted me personally and I had to make sure it was one I made. I wrote that person the COA and he intern sold this piece with the letter to the current owner. So it was my mistake and memory failure.

Awesome piece! I've been wanting a Watchmen movie for years, so seeing how well it's being handled now is really exciting.

Wow!! I am in awe of the stuff you work on, my friend! That remote is outstanding but the step-by-step on the "Night at the Museum 2" shield just blew me away!! Even your tape dispenser is cool!!

Great stuff, man!! Makes me really look forward to the Tony Stark project!!

    Awesome piece, Rick.

Now please get to that 2nd run of J2s. I'm not above begging. Seriously.

I am not too proud to beg for another run of J2's either. Hopefully a metal version but would happily take resin too, the last run looked great.

Aug 4, 2008 - Watchmen Night Owl Shuriken Throwing stars are up #19

Hi, just loaded up the Shuriken throwing stars I did for watchmen. These were really cool. When you hold one blade and flip your wrist the other two blades whip out and extend into position. The gears inside made all of it possible.

It's on my site under Watchmen.

    Enjoy.

    Awesome !!!

Rick, how do you achieve that super flat surface on the remote control, doesn΄t the machining tool leave any canals on the surface ? Is elbow grease the secret ingredient ?

    Really cool.

Very nice work on Mystery Men and Star Trek as well. I remember noticing how good Soran's pistol was when I first watched the film.

It seems a bit weird to see these future classics (in detail) before they actually hit the screen. Rather than scouring the web years later searching through blurred screen images for references.

    Cheers!
