The saber you are referring to is the Luke/Vader shared stunt saber. It was used in all 3 films. It was incorrectly mislabeled a long time ago and it's been a difficult thing trying to get people not studied up on the subject to become aware of it.
The actual ROTJ saber (which is also the same saber used in ESB) can be seen here.

I call it that too, as does everyone else I know, for the same reason I say "Kleenex" instead of facial tissue when it's a generic brand. It's what is recognized and widely accepted; efficiency in communication. It doesn't make him incorrect to call it by it's most widely known name. It WAS used in ROTJ. In fact, from what I remember, the only time you see vader's lightsaber half way clearly in ROTJ is when he throws it at Luke and the blade was added to the wrong end. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the lightsaber we're talking about. So, to me, the fact that ROTJ is the only time in the trilogy that we get a good look at this saber, makes it the ROTJ saber for me, whatever the history of the actual prop.

Well, it is A ROTJ saber, and in it's current/final modified form, it looks as it did in ROTJ. It just looked like a funky stripped down Graflex in ANH and ESB. So calling it a ROTJ saber isn't incorrect, it's just not the whole truth.GINO said:

Then the one you're talking about isn't the true Vader ROTJ either. Just like you said, it's the ESB reused for ROTJ. Show me a scene in ANH or ESB that at least semi-clearly shows the MOM Graflex based saber. Then Show me the scene in ROTJ that most clearly shows Vader's lightsaber period. Which one is it?
