Kathy is telling me now that the gun she is selling almost were screen used, cause came out from a mold of a guy who almost worked for a new V version of the show. I don't know which lie is worse.

And I really appreciate your intervention here. Saved me a lot of money and time.

Beechy, the pistol you have is of the second variant I made. It has the slide switch on the side of the barrel as a plant on, on the third version I cut the side and recessed the switch. But, all the pistols I made were solid resin, I never made any with lights or sounds.

I made my first version shortly after the original movie aired. I usually attended the local conventions and in many cases had a dealers table and sold the pistols, holsters and other bits and pieces. I was also wholesaling some to John Marco in Orange county. The ones I sold to John were unpainted. John liked to add lights and sounds to the props he sold so it's possible he made the one Beechy has.

As I said earlier I did a total of three versions, each adding or changing detail to be more like the studio gun.

I've got both versions.. Both full size, the version 2 you did, is the resin one I have.. And then one, that could have been from John, as it's more thermal plastic with the electronics and sounds, and looks like a version 2 as well..

You are right, I missed that thread in my research. Would have saved me 200 dollars in cash, cause I bought two katarra8 blasters. And I was talking about Kathy making money with her "almost screen used speech".

You are going to be very helpful with this project since you have all the experience with Arduino. I actually bought a Mini Arduino and a WTS020 module. As well a UNO to program and test it more easily.

On the rifles there were static ones made, rubber ones made, ones where the scope lights up and can be turned on it has a series of like 5 bulbs or so inside, and a working version where the barrel tip lit up when a button was depressed.

I'm down for whatever you do. What you've made thus far is light years beyond anything else.

Do you really have some proof? We do established by sawduster word that he did it, to sell at cons back at the '80.

I want to echo Macrossmaster's comment. Don't quit. I've held a Katarra gun in my hands and have been disappointed at the quality. What you are doing is what several people have wanted for a long time (myself included). Your pistol looks beautiful. Seriously. Sound effects or not. Safety switch on the left or right, whatever. It looks clean and straight. Don't give up!

Won't give up. Tomorrow will present some mods to made it screen accurate.

OK, as I told you before, I decided to continue with this project. Will improve my later design to make it screen accurate. So far, those two pistols are the only ones identified from the TV show:

They have small differences, but the overall look is OK and quite similar. Posted cause, IF there is a hardcore collector that has another version, I would like to chime in here. I would hate to miss another detail or believe they were from the show and ended up working with some fan made replica. If everybody agrees to incorporate all the improvements to my model, I will put some prices and options in the INT thread.

OK, thanks to the members that sent me photos, I was able to create a sample skeleton:





My first estimation was length 30 cm by 14.5 cm of height. Don Coleman is 31 cm x 15 cm. Will be starting from here, but If somebody could provide me with the real measurement from the screen used one, I will be able to enlarge it. In the other hand, could take some time to build the entire 3D model from the photos I have.

Following this with glee! Have never cared for any of the vendor resin kits, none of them look good. Would love to have a nice gun to go with my V Security outfit!

Thanks. Working against the clock to finish the new model. Doing the 2D modeling right now. Let me tell you that Don did a wonderful job with that photo. Most of the details were really close. Screen used one in the other hand will take a lot cause It is not symmetrical, so I will have an extra job for some parts that after just duplicated and mirrored.

Welcome to the world of props. Nine outta ten times, the fan made pieces blow away anything used on screen. Sad, but true fact. Looks awesome, by the way.
