Using Fiberglass to Attach a Hinge?

I have a landspeeder jet/engine piece that I'm going to have some fun with by making the top open up to reveal the engine inside. I want to use a piano hinge on one side and magnetic closures on the other. I don't want to use screws to attach the hinge, so I was wondering if I can "cement" the hinge in place with fiberglass. Will this work, and will it hold strongly? Any other ideas is not?

I have a Boba Fett gauntlet that has its hinges fiberglassed over, but that's a lot smaller. The engine itself is fiberglass, if that matters at all.

If the piece you want to hinge is not already finished, drill some holes through the hinge and the piece so when you fiberglas over the hinge it will bond through the piece. Sand, finish as normal. It should work.

The piano hinge already has screw holes down its length. Is that enough?

If you don't want to drill holes, I'd use JB Weld to glue down the hinge, then fiberglass over it for added strength. The problem with drilling the holes is that if the screws or hinge move over time, they may crack the bondo or push it up so that there are visible bumps on the outside.
