Hi everyone.
I know that birdie has made a fabulous Torchwood Handgun, and there exists Torchwood stun guns, but are there any other Torchwood props around?
An interesting one is the "ghost machine" from the episode of the same name.
Thanks.

Well, there's always the "Laser Saw" from Children of Earth: Day 1
Salinity Refractometer Hydrometer Refraktometer Ocean on eBay!
There are a few Series 1 prop pics in my Photobucket folder here:

Originally from the BBC UK Torchwood website. Dunno if they were used anywhere else.
Coz.
I just picked up all three series on blu-ray, which should allow me to get some decent caps for stuff I'd like to do. Been meaning to get round to doing John Hart's pistol, which I think has the same base gun (TM Hi-Capa) as the Torchwood Handgun.
I started working on the ringmaster's flask from 'From Out of the Rain', but have gotta get around to finishing it.
Prop:
It's based on an old powder flask similar to this one:
They turn up on Ebay from anything from Ł10 to about Ł200, got mine fairly cheap.
Tosh's scanner thingy that shows up throughout series 2 is based on a Palm Tugsten E2 PDA with lots of greeblies added
Again, careful Ebay perusal can produce cheap results!

My build
I made a replica of the alien Pendant from Greeks with Gifts just sculpted from Fimo then cast in resin
For some reason they used Tokyo Marui Hi Capa airsofts for the handguns, there is no real-world equivalent of this gun. They used Sig-Sauers for some of the live-fire shots, but it was meant to be the same gun.
I scratch-built the custom under-barrel unit and had the side plate laser-cut. If anyone is interested I might make some resin casts of these next year, would be cheaper than shelling out for another high-capa to do the John Hart gun.

Very informative post, thank you.
With Regards to The ringmasters flask, I was talking to my friend and said that would be an excellent prop, please update if you make more headway with it![]()
The John hart gun look interesting, but the Torchwood guns are awesome. What do you think the availability of the High-Capas will be in a few years time? I'm not in a position to buy now, but in a few years I would love to own one. Same for the Resin copy.
I Love the stungun, and the alien pendant is sweet
Tosh's scanner would be awsome. Have you made it or have you just found the PDA that it is based on?
You have a very nice collection. I take it your the person of the same name on yourprops?
If so excellent doctor who collection too.
Once again thanks for this post keep up the good work.

I just need to resculpt the stopper, so that will definiteley get done. With Regards to The ringmasters flask, I was talking to my friend and said that would be an excellent prop, please update if you make more headway with it![]()
The High-Capa's will be around for a while, I would think. It's a fairly high-end gas gun, so you are looking at over Ł100 before any mods. There is also the problem with the VCR Bill that prevents the purchase of replica weapons in the UK. The only way around this, if you are not a member of an airsofting club, is to find a dealer who will spray parts of the gun in bright colours to get exemption. The John hart gun look interesting, but the Torchwood guns are awesome. I could never recommendend just spaying it black again, of course, as that would be illegal
If I do make resin ones, there's really no time limitation, once the moulds are done, they are done.
I have the PDA, really good images of the prop are hard to come by, hopefully will be able to snag some better caps from the blu-ray.Tosh's scanner would be awsome. Have you made it or have you just found the PDA that it is based on?
Thanks, I'm current working on some new Who stuffYou have a very nice collection. I take it your the person of the same name on yourprops?

Don't forget Character Option's Vortex Manipulator!
There's a thread here where someone had the parts 3D printed and left it up for others to buy - the catch, of course, is the strap.
Also - might want to try looking up a Symbol Palm Scanner for Tosh's PDA. The movie theater used to have ones that looked similar.
There are a couple real world equivalents of the high capa guns (and models like it) One is Strayer Voight Infinity out of Texas. This model is called the "Hi Cap".
Or there is also STI guns, also out of Texas. This model is called "The Edge"
And yes, they do come with frame rails as well.
SVI
STI International - STI
As a side note, these companies make incredibly expensive firearms.
Both of those pictured are close, but no banana. At a quick glance the slide is the wrong shape on the STI (round v squared off) and the slide serrations are too far back on both.
The frame size on both is also 1/2" longer than the TM.

I know they are not exact matches for the TM. But that style of gun is real, and with SVI in particular, they offer custom made to order guns with the "gun builder" option and you could certainly make one if you had the scratch.![]()
I just put up some new stuff yesterday
I'm just making a mould of my replica of Jack's squareness gun even as we speak, those should be available early next year.
Next big project is the Doctor's space helmet from Impossible Planet/Satan pit. I've got a Scott Procap, which is a powered respirator that was used as a base for the helmet, but it's going to be a LOT of work modifying it.
I would LOVE to get a cast of the under barrel part and the Torchwood name plate, since I already have a TM Hi-Capa 4.3 (the boyfriend and I play Airsoft lol).
If anyone's looking for those Tungsten PDA's, the school I work at literally has BOXES of them, still sealed in the packages. I could ask the principal if she's be willing to sell some cheap, since we don't use them.
Hey guys,
I'm still messing around with my Squareness Gun sculpt, as soon as I've got that right, I'll put up and interest thread for the hi-capa add-ons
In the meantime, I scanned these pics in from the Torchwood Magazine of the screen used pistol and scanner props.

Any price estimations?
What do mean by Hi capa addons? Is that for people who already have a hi capa 4.3?
Sorry for bombarding you with questions.
Thanks in advance.
Jackisback
The add-ons for the Hi-Capa would be the under-barrel unit and the Torchwood name barrel on the slide.
Price would be determined by interest - the more people who want one, the cheaper it's gonna be, I need to cover myself on making the molds.
In the UK, you could pick up one of these as a pretty close stand-in for the Hi-Capa:
Hfc - STTi 1/1 Pearl Blue H&K P8 Soft Shooter 6mm BB Pistol (SA2412) (HA-112) | Antics Online Model Shop
Cheap, and completeley legal under the VCR bill. Of course, I would never suggest spraying it black![]()

Hi there,
I Would be very interested in buying the attachment for the pistol if you were to do do some resin casts as I already own a hi Capa 4.3. Im not so bothered about the "Torchwood" Name plate. Also im very interested in the bit that surrounds tosh's pda. Would you be making any of them?
It's on my 'to do' list
I need to get some caps from the blu-ray, there's quite a bit of detail on the top that houses the blue leds that is tough to make out in the images I've got.
