Jun 26, 2010 - Top Shot TV Show Knife #1

So I watched the show intro today and found an image of a knife. I assume this is one of the knives that the teams will use on the show.

The coolest part of it is that I designed that knife!! I was pretty stoked to see it on the screen!

    This image from the intro.

    Not sure but hopefully soon!

I like it when the show moved away from the guns! The bow and arrows were pretty cool.

The knives should be cool too but I don't think most of those people will be that proficient with them. I wonder if there's any tomahawks, atlatl, spears etc.

    They are 14".

I originally designed these for a stage performer and I believe he will be selling them on his site.

Here's a pic to show the size compared to a hot Asian girl.

lol. The hot Asian girl is rather distracting. We're lucky, there are woods all over the place and cut down trees galore in our area.

Yeah, that last throw by Denny was pretty cool!!

Most of the people who missed were under spinning the knife. If they gripped it a little farther down the handle the knife would have stuck.

Awesome looking knife and a great episode. I'm so glad Brad is gone. All he did was whine and make excuses.

Denny's throw was hilarious. I don't even think he was looking at the target. He was more focused on not falling and his throw was more of a flick but it got the job done.

Is it true about "over muscling"?

    Thanks!

If you muscle it, it will usually underspin since the knife won't rotate as much and you have to back up. Plus you won't be consistent. I hardly use any arm strength at all. I can also throw a 1 pound knife 90 feet. It's all in your form. I'm a pretty hard thrower though. You transfer energy like you throw a punch with your hip and back foot.

Since Denny was under-spinning the knife, when he threw falling back a bit, it compensated and stuck correctly. When the knife hits and falls downward it's an underspin. When it hits and goes up first it's an overspin.

For an underspin, you can back up, grip the knife lower on the handle or flick your wrist more.

Seriously. We should come up with a scale and reference everything to one HAG. Hmm. Not an auspicious acronym . . .
