    Aug 17, 2012 - TM HERO HELMET - Tantive IV #1

    Hi everyone

I got a hero kit helmet from Paul about a year ago and after all this time I am very close to finish it. For this helmet I got inspired on the hero helmet that appears on Tantive IV right after Vader gets on the ship followed by the troopers. It is very short appearance on the film but I managed to find some reference pictures that guided me in the process to finalize it. At this point I am pretty much done except the weathering and the elastic straps, all the details are hand painted of course! I will add more pics very soon with the weathering pass. In the meantime this are some pics of my progress

    Cheers

    A

That is one nice stormtrooper helmet! You have different mic pieces. is there a reason for that?

its looks glorious, but is there meant to be that peeling of the paint on the vocoder and the mic tips?

The mic pieces are identical to each other, they are painted replicating the tantive IV style, one of them is peeled off with metallic grid, the one on the left is painted in black at the base and the rest is peeled off as well but covered with white tape.

The vocoder chipping is just replicating the damage on the sets present in some original helmets. these are some of the pics that I got inspired for this helmet containing this kind of details.

    Nice job.
I think the right side mic tip is broken off at the prongs on the original.

yup, to me attention to that kind of detail makes the helmet that much more authentic. It also shows you care. This helmet is amazing and replicating the mic tips like that is just way cool!!!

Those stormtroopers in that frame look bad ass.

I hope EFX comes through with their HERO.

Thanks Keith! That is great information, what I can tell is that the right mic is slightly shorter than the left one, I would love to see more pics of that if possible. If so I would modify the mic to match the original one. . Thanks

Thanks guys, I just wanted to do something different to the usual troopers we see in the forums most of the time.

Thanks, still I am a bit away of my general final idea, I'm also touching up the ear ups to kind of reflect the damaged occurred during the filming
