    Jul 10, 2012 - Terminator CPU Replica WIP "A bit wooden" #1

This is a T2 style CPU prop i made up of scrap poplar while working on a jewelry box for my wife. It needs some paint and I believe it will be a nice replica.

My next project is to build one that I can put the guts of a USB flash drive into

Not officially. When I was doing reference research
One popped up but the seller website was dead.
    It's certainly been done though.

It never occurred to me - if was to do it I'd
Most likely carve it from plexy - after I read your
Question I thought on it and I think I have an idea
Of how it could be done relatively simply
but it may be easier said - you'll see it here first when
I give it a shot, I promise you

That is a shame. They would have sold a heap to geeks like us

Just be careful u dont drop it in molten iron with some family photos on it.
FYI, Patriot Xporter FLEX flash drives are supertiny, super high capacity, super tough, and usually super cheap. They are the best drive for stuff like that in my experiences.

I'm in the midst of a similar project fitting a click drive into a T2 CPU.

Have been working on other stuff so it's on the backburner. Have started shaping the parts but using aluminium for strength rather than wood.

Here it is with paint.. and honestly it looks better to me in the pictures ( I borrowed the ol' lady's phone, as it takes better pictures )

I'll probably touch the paint up, I used the spray silver and brushed on oiled bronze, I'll update again after the touch up

I'd like to build a better replica before I attempt that I will be on the look out for that brand however, as my donor drive ( 7 bucks from staples ) is a bit too large to fit inside a resin "perfect" replica, and as it sits barely fits inside the hideous wooden one I constructed.

IN the group shot you can see the painted replica ( ) and the unpainted drive case with the naked flash drive.

In all honesty, it would probably be easier to cast the CPU around the drive in resin. I plan on building a more accurate version out of aluminum stock but in order to use it as a master.

I would love to see the WIP either way you go!
