Tinplate Toys Child's Clock - Childrens Clocks - Timeworks

Have this on my wall, if anyone is interested, you can find them cheapier, just was the first place I found it..but it's little Sammy's clock that was in his nursery over his crib when the YED comes and visits him....put it in the computer room/study..looks pretty cool...and actually reminds me of the wall paper I had on my wall as a kid, also had a few more planes best I remember.

Boo yah! First cast is out of the mold.

Gotta say that I'm real happy with the way this turned out. The castings are super crisp.

Looking great! Took me a minute to see it the correct way, the way the blades designed it's almost like an optical illusion.

Man you weren't kidding about crisp! A little silver foil and that is gonna be one hell of an angel poker!

Yeah, the step back you see at certain angles is pretty freaky. Scard the bujeebus out of me the first time I saw. Thought for sure that I had screwed something up.

Sales thread just opened in the junkyard.

I ordered the Killer Chrome system from Alsa and am looking forward to trying it out on these.

    edit - http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mir...irrachrome.htm

Same company that makes the other killer chrome, so dunno

Another option might be mirrachrome or something to that effect, mirror chrome maybe?

It was a spray, dunno if it was a can or a system, but it did a hell of a job. Kinda expensive but cheaper than dipping it in chemicals.

I will try to find a link to it..

    Thanks for the heads up.

That link you provided has definately made me think twice. I'm going to do some more research and may very well just send it back unopened. That stuff is too damn pricey to take the chance unless I'm sure.

There is also the Alclad II option. I believe its also an Alsa product, you spray a black gloss basecoat, then airbush the stuff over it. VERY thin layers will get the best results. But it's tough to clear coat without killing the reflective properties..

I got a few pages of silver leafing foil here, and that's what I plan to do if I can't find a local plater who can do plastics..

I think the foil would work well on the blade you can hide the edges, but won't you get a seam line when you do the handle? I guess if it is going in a case with your knife or colt it could be easily hidden?

Probably, but with silver foil, the material is so fine that it shouldn't be noticeable. Worst case is I end up with a line I can barely see, and build my display around the fact I need to hide that line

Yeah, I'm quite experienced with Alclad (we even painted the Tri-Wizard cup with it on my suggestion). My concern was with the clear coat. Always a bugger to get it right and not craze the finish.

I've already decided to test with the Alclad next and clear it with a 2K auto clear. I think that's going to be the best bet with keeping the reflectivity.

I remember guys using future floor wax over the Alclad with good results, but I'm not sure that stuff is still on the market..

What, the car? I'd imagine it's going to be quite a bit.

But if you're talking about the angel swords, those have been available in the junkyard since last week.
