    Aug 28, 2012 - Superman Christopher Reeve Lifesize Display That I Finished 1978 #1

Here is a Superman Christopher Reeve Lifesize display that I recently finished. I wanted to go for the style of pose where he is getting ready to quick change to Superman.

The hair & eyebrows were all hand laid hair. I a;so added upper & lower eyelashes.

The eyes themselves were color matched by Tech Optics to look exactly like Christopher Reeve's actual eyes.
The mannequin was also custom posed by modifying it.

    In a softer light.

    Very cool. Great job!!

You just need the Screen accurate tie that was sold in the JY last year. It was exactly like the one he wore in the movie

    Thanks guys.

The tie is not movie accurate as I used this pic for my inspiration for this project as I really like the contrast between the burgundy & grey pinstripe suit.

The hair is hand laid & glued on with a technique similar to how a Michael Myers mask is done.
Almost similar to how you would shingle a house.
    Very time consuming method.

I completely modified this piece over the holidays & upgraded the head.

I was never 100% happy with the modified life cast that I had originally used as it always seemed a little off to me.

I can't afford a finished silicone piece so this is the best I could come up with on a budget.

Think it's looking pretty damn sweet.

One thing about the hair - it was always very slick in the movies. An idea could be to mist it with semi gloss clear coat to give it a bit of a shine!? Of course, test it on something else first.

This particular bust had sculpted hair which I chose to cover up with wig hair.
I never liked the look of sculpted/painted hair especially on a life size piece as it always comes across as fake no matter how well you paint it.

I have the hair loaded in solid hold hairspray & pushed it down as tight as I could get it & styled it.

I could always add some more hair spray or even clear to give it a more wet look but I am nervous that overdoing the hair will make it too hard.

I noticed that in some parts of the movies that his hair is not as slicked especially after the wind has blown through it give it a more fluffier dry look.

Wow. That looks great!! Congratulations on nice job.

If I ever walked into the room and didn't know it was there that would completely freak me out.

Thanks again for the compliments on the paint up.

My final goal is to finally finish my Michael Keaton Batman life size & display them together.

That's a cool pairing. Looking forward to seeing that. Any thoughts on a pose?

I was lucky enough to pick up a 5 foot 9 mannequin which is roughly the same height as Michael Keaton which I already painted.

I need to finish the boots.

It want it to be a standard Batman pose with his cape flowing.
