Sorsha’s Sword, Knife and Helmet

I’ve never seen a replica of the sword and helmet that Sorsha (Joanne Whalley) used in Willow, so I’m going to give it a shot. Starting with the sword.
I’m not sure yet about the length of the sword, my first guess is 1 metre. If anyone has any information about these props I would be very glad to hear it.

I think I am in the right direction with the shape of the blade, the blade is approx. 82cm in length.

The blade is almost done, hard work, working with metal.

I’m also working on the knife that Sorsha used, there is not much reference but it gives me more freedom.

Thanks a lot guys.

The knife was easy to build, the core of the handle is a wooden stick. Then I sculpted the bone shape with woodpulp (not sure what the English translation of this stuff is), it’s a kind of wood powder that you mix with water.
After the woodpulp is dry I used a polyester resin coating to make it stronger and waterproof, then I’ve painted it in a bone colour and aged it a bit.
I used epoxy glue to attach the blade in the handle.

Making good progress with the sword, I am currently working on the endcap and the mechanism for the spike.

Sword is done, the leather on the hilt was a bit of a struggle but it turned out pretty nice.

I also added some blood on the blade, not much, just enough to give the sword a bit colour and it’s a interesting detail to look at.

I added some (real) rust to the blade of the knife, I think it looks more real this way. The colours of the rust fits perfect with the ‘natural’ colours of the bone/hilt.

And now the third and most grave of inquiries, the helmet.
 
Both the sword and the knife turned out fantastic! I like the blood on the sword. I'm not sure about the rust -- I figure if you take care of your blades there shouldn't be rust on them, right?

Your right about that, but it’s not a normal knife, it’s more a kind of biological weapon :)
