Id say my only complaint aside from the non-extending claws, would be the lack of a button for fx only. It'd make cosplaying a tad easier...love this product though!
I thought it had an FX-only mode...?
Sean
Received mine as a gift today!
Sadly, one of the copper "buttons" on the front is all scratched up.
Anyone know what ThinkGeek's policy is on this kind of thing? My wife is going to try and get a hold of them tomorrow.![]()
In case anyone was wondering Think Geek has great customer service and is fixing the situation.![]()

Thought I would share theses shots of the remote next to the real deal, pretty good likeness I think. I was lucky enough to have one of the first assembled remotes to play around with. I was also asked to make this display stand for the company, it's loosely based on the tardis design that the sonic first popped out of.
Overall I'm very pleased with it and that comparison shot is great! Thank you.
There are obviously differences but I do think they have a winner with this one. Now if only it opened up.![]()
Gotta get me one of these, they look great!!
If you own the toy, just holding the remote in your hands feels awesome! Good heft, and smooth metal finish.
Makes me wish for a proper replica even more!
Yeah I own the toy and I love it but I wish it was metal (obviously) or had at least some heft to it.
The metal remote has a few slight differences, that I could see from the picture Nick posted but it looks good enough for me. I'll definitely be picking one up within the next month.
The folks at the WAND company are all really upstanding people and have been nothing but helpful when I've asked them about technical issues.
In other news, at Gallifrey 2013 in LA I should be able to show a few of these remotes controlling the screen-used Paul McGann TARDIS console, to replace the remote control I made out of a Character Options toy Sonic...
Thanks to another generous RPF member we're going to have sonic remotes of both the old series and new series style - should be a lot of fun to let the convention-goers play with them.

Aw man! I wish I could make it to Galley1 this year but it looks like I'll be working that weekend at another convention.![]()
I got mine last night, and I'm happy to report that you can not only control televisions and Blu-ray players with it, but also my dog. Universal remote indeed. As soon as I can make the trip I'll do some debugging with this at the console.
Everybody find the secret sounds yet? I found two, a morse code message and the TARDIS landing bell...
--Brian
Haven't found the Landing Bell yet, but if you press the button 9 times while in FX mode, it will cycle through the Morse code messages.
Just took the plunge and bought one on Think Geek's website, should have it by Thursday-Saturday. I blame Gen. Frosty, your Eleventh Doctor costume is way too awesome to ignore. Lol.
