May 8, 2012 - Some help with molding an original Sterling part #1

    Hey gang

I'm currently molding E-11 parts to do a run of blasters for the local garrison. I have an ok understanding of single pour molds aswell as split molds but I'm a little stuck with the end cap, the one with the 'D' ring.

How would you suggest I mold it, It basically needs to be a direct copy, so no solid center, needs to fit over the pipe I'm using.

I'm sure there's a simple explanation but right now I'm a little lost.

remove the D ring, clay in the void and drill it out of the pulled part. If your sneaky you can elevate the master to get the proper lip around it and save some clean up work.

Ok I decided to try for molding it with the D ring on.

I slightly filled in the areas around the D ring so it doesnt get molded in.

I have used clay to make a split mold inside a large tube as the wall structure of the mold.

Then mounted a clay pour line ontop of the small rectangle piece the D ring mount in.

Will get some pics up soon
