The RGB LEDs are amazing. I started using them in place of white LEDs for several projects. Being able to change colors on the fly is really nice. The only downside is the lack of a warm white - at least with the rolls I've seen.
Some nice additions from China include 3 or 4 way connectors, strip-strip connectors, and 1 to many pony tails. Just plan ahead since it takes so long to arrive.
Agreed, shipping takes a long time with these, but the price is worth it. I have found that the warm white from this set isn't too bad. The fact that I can control the lighting from my poker table really gets me jazzed![]()
Thanks to all you guys for looking. I have the week off next week, so I am hoping to spend a few days working on it!
Just so you know... You even have a bloke all the way down in Australia watching this thread with absolute awe and admiration! Truly awesome mate!
Hope everyone had a great christmas, and I wanted to share this with you, as I thought all of you would get a kick out of it.
My wife asked me a couple months ago what I wanted for Christmas, and I told her, "Well, I really want to finish the basement project this year, so I guess you could go to Home Depot and get me a bunch of plumbing parts."
Now, at the time she glared at me. "Thats not a Christmas gift!"
But wouldn't you know it, her and my brother-in-law, wrapped each and every piece in this photo independently! Has to be one of the best Christmas gifts ever! . . . now I just need to get them on the wallHappy New Year everyone!

As promised I was give a bit of time to work on this. I have more time coming in the next couple of days, so we'll see what else I get going. I have taken some artistic liscensing with parts of this.I didn't follow the drawings to the letter, I just wanted to have fun with the door.
Thanks to all for the great comments, and thanks for looking.

unbelievable man cannot wait to see it finished
Yup, this will be an epic build.
Cant wait to see more of this!
Simply Amazing! I can't wait to see more pics!
I definitely have to subscribe to this thread -pure awesome.
It would be a very hard sell to get my wife on board with a project this big. It would also be difficult to leave such an awesome build behind if I had to move for some reason. Is it at all practical to design the sections in a way that you could remove them for transport to a possible new basement "ship"?
Looking forward to seeing this finished!
You're an inspiration to prop makers everywhere!
I hope I can make a room that is half as epic as this when I get a house.
Great job!!
WOW guys, that's really all I can say to all the compliments. I honestly thought I was a little too geeky doing this(But is there such a thing?)
My wife is actually getting really excited??? Strange right? We had some friends over for new years last night, and they all showed a large amount of interest (Some strange looks too) but my wife, god bless her, said, "What's weird about it, I think everyone should have a space ship of their own."
As far as modular pieces Woffpack, every single part of this can be pulled off the walls and taken with me. I designed it that way for just that reason. Also, I wanted to be able to remove sections and change them around, or work on individual pieces, from time to time if I wanted.
Overall it is starting to come together nicely, long road ahead, and I have the front of the room once this is done. Its a marathon, not a sprint though
Thanks for looking guys, and thanks for all the compliments, i am glad I have you guys to share it with . . . people who understand the obsession! ha ha ha!
Awesome!
You need Holochess tables as movable drink tables to have around the room.

Man, this is looking epic!
Dang this is a great thread.
I'll be watching with interest.
