    Jul 10, 2008 - Smooth-on equivalent to Hyperfirm Rubber #1

Does anyone know what Smooth-on product is the equivalent to Hyperfirm rubber?

If no one knows, does anyone know where I can get the rubber to make hyperfirm products.

I believe the "hyperfirm" rubber is a custom creation, so I dont think you'll be able to truly find a real equivelent unless you start expirimenting..

Thanks kropserkel. So this stuff feels a lot like hyperfirm rubber when cured?

Hyperfirm is a custom mix, unfortunately. I have messed around with Smooth On stuff and while it is Rubber, I have yet to find anything that captures the detail as well as Hyperfirm as well as its durometer.

Thanks. BTW, love the new Avatar.

I will play around with the stuff Kropserkel recommended. Hopefully it will work for what I need it for.

"hyperfirm" isnt one single rubber. You have a skin rubber and a foam rubber. Unlike resin, its not a simple "pour". There are various rubber materials and application techniques for prop making, to each their own. Some people juggle geese.
