Lets not forget besides the Mal Guns the Abbot and Costello Drac Ring orders still have not been completely filled.
That is the most confusing part to me. How can some have been shipped, yet other have gone unfulfilled. As well, if they are not shipping because of updates to the ring and such, what happens to those rings that have already shipped?
At this point, while they offer or plan to bring some cool stuff to market, I cannot feel right about placing an order. Hopefully, for everyone interested, they straighten all of this out. However, updates that say:
This does not cut it for me as it is the same story we have heard for a long time now. I understand when a hobbyist makes something and there is a delay, but this is a company, and these delays without any information to paying customers are just discouraging.Yes, thats right. We are doing the Mal Pistol replica. And were busy making it better. Better, you ask? Yes, faster, stronger, um, available. Stay tuned. All we can say is itll be worth the wait.
Can we have any idea of what we are staying tuned for? A picture, a diagram, a sketch, something.
Maybe they underestimated the initial demand and now the place producing them is backed up with other jobs? Could be that way with the guns too if it's hard to find someone good to do them. Just theorizing is all.
Here's an idea:
Can't one of you guys that are stateside give 'em a call and see what's going on with the Mal guns and/or rings?
Here's the number: 1-866-623-0055
I think that QMX would get cut a little more slack on these boards if Steve hadn't insullted the members of the RPF, then taken his ball and gone home.
I personnaly like everything that Qmx has done, I have the ships papers, the blue sun travel posters, I ordered the custom dog tag sets and plann on ordering all the BSG , Stargate and Serenity stuff they come out with next, given I havent had a bad experience with them yet like some of the other board members, and hopefully I wont. There a semi-new company so I dont know why people can compare them to companys who have star wars or trek , they've been around for alot longer, I just think that everyone should give Qmx a chance, I mean, havent they improved since they opened?
My papers are on the way as I write this (just got both an e-mail from Jessica at QMX customer service as well as a USPS shipping notice) and I wanna know more cool details from those of you that have them and other neat details on their making from Whitefall while I wait.
As Tif said earlier those are REAL props.
A classic example of 'unusual spelling' is this:
If you buy a replica prop and it's been sanitised and corrected and straightened it's not a replica prop anymore, its an interpretation.
Now i fully accept that a lot of real props close-up look appalling! (I am lucky to own a couple of original props myself) and perhaps some interpretation HAS to take place, sometimes from a safety aspect.
Mistakes and weathering and scratches and dents, if they appear on the real prop just add to the authenticity IMHO.![]()
My greatest concern is that they have already taken the money for the dog tags and have yet to produce them. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I did like the Serenity Money Pack, but in the strictest sense of the word, they are engaging in credit card fraud. Taking money for something that hasn't been produced yet. Most reputable places (like Amazon) will not charge your credit card on a pre-order item until the order is about to be shipped. They will just hold the order in limbo until they get stocked. That is the proper (and legal) way of doing business. QMx charged my card the second I placed the order back on January 18, 2007, and they have so far missed every release time that they were claiming these things were supposed to be available. Like I said, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as I do realize they are a small company, but their historical business practices are starting to drop them several notches in my book.
They should deliver on the things they've promised and stop promising more stuff that they'll likely have continued issues on fulfilling.
And I'm still waiting for answers to my emails on this issue. Their response time to inquiries is also historically abhorrent, and I will NOT be going away on this one.
If anyone from QMx is lurking around here and reading this, you might want to get your act together, guys. Credit fraud can end a company REAL quick, and I bet I'm not the only one to whom this has happened.
I just got my set and I have to say that I'm real happy with them. In all honesty, they're not just a simple paper prop. There are a number of details that make them really neat. Different paper is used on different documents and there's a cool little metal "pin" with some Alliance symbol (I assume) holding onto the receipt for Serenity. It think it's been mentioned before, but there's some hidden paper-clipped bribe money in there too. QMX could have just stuck a bunch of prints into the leather wallet and be done with it, but they didn't... some extra effort was put into the details.
The set could do with a bit of weathering and some coffee, gunpowder and blood stains but other than that I have no complaints.
Dude, not everything needs to be bloody.
I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt. It is troubling that they immediately charged credit cards for product that they weren't ready to ship. I seriously hope they succeed. We need a quality producer of Firefly and Galactica props.
I agree
I ordered my Ships Papers on Aug 26, I just received an e-mail a few days ago saying they'd ship in 2 weeks. The payment went through immediately, but I have to wait for over a month for my puchase.
When I ordered the Serenity fan club money pack, it was here within a week, I wonder if they were not prepared for the large amount of orders coming right away and fell behind.
I need my papers, I'm starting to go into withdrawl![]()
