    Jul 8, 2008 - River Song's Sonic Screwdriver Complete (Pics in post 1) #1

arwa proudly presents River Song's Sonic Screwdriver. I just need to add a little more black antiquing to the white handle and seal the other areas with an acrylic matte no-gloss spray.

I only made one error in the bottom section which is the 3 rings just below the two gold rings. I ran out of room I guess my measurements were a little off I don't think it turned out too bad though. The pictures really don't pick up the amount of detail that went into it.

I haven't decided on the display yet. Fake Doctor Diary to hold the both of them. Mock Tardis front. I used the paint program to put together a small pic of River and the Doctor for what ever I do, but one thing at a time I guess.

I can honestly say that everything was made by me on this thing. Other than the main body, I spent a total of 40 cents on greeblies. Everything was found or made/modified by me

What do you think???? Am I close or off?

    or ?

I added the do-dads to the emitter section and did some work on the ring. No weathering has been done yet. I used pieces of copper for the top do dads, and may leave them instead of coloring them the brass color. I can't wait to beat this thing to hell . Oh, I also added the red stone too, but I don't the picture shows it.

Does anyone have a good shot of the emmitter light? It isn't the same as his regular screwdriver. It almost looks like a small pyramid, but I haven't seen any shots that show it from the top down.

Also, does anyone have any ideas on what was used for the brass ring for his-her finger?

Everything else is coming along nicely

Anyone have any idea about the finger hole? So far I have done:

-The emmiter minus the mold, blue section, and side fins. (I even have the little bar on the inside too.)

    -Main Body
    -Top handle section/plate area
    -Red stone underneath the plate
-Two fins that pop of the side of the handle.

I need to find the rings towards the bottom before I can proceed with very bottom as well.

All it all it is going a lot better than I thought...

The rings could be simple brass washers just polished, maybe a thought?

The ring looks like an adjustable finger rest on the top of a trumpet.

The blue emitter appears to be domed but stepped. As for the brass finger ring? I think it looks a lot like one side of a small pair of scissors.

Here's the best picture I could find.

That is the same picture I have been looking at for the past few days. I was thinking a pair of scissors as well for the ring, but I haven't come across the right size. There is supposed to be a huge "Bananza" tomorrow through Sunday, so maybe I can find the necessary greeblies there.

    Pictures are coming...

    Update 7-31-08

The pictures make it look crappier than it actually is The rings I had to custom make. That was probably the hardest part so far next to the top.

It looks like it is starting to take shape. I can't wait to beat the crap out of this thing

Thank you. It is a pain to find/make these parts. I think I am going to have the side section on the emmitter done this week. I am probably going to make them out of brass scraps.

I am not sure about the other pieces yet. I am making this up as I go.

I am almost done with trigger ring too. I built around the silver ring in the picture above and connected it to the acrylic section. It is really rough right now with a lot dinks and divits. I may leave it that way and just sand down/ smooth over the section closest to the screwdriver body.

It is very awkward to have in my hand. It is like using a pair of scissors on the opposite hand that you would use.

I know it has been discussed above, but does anyone have any idea about the light section?

I know it is stepped (thanks for the pic above), but I don't know where to look for it.

Is anyone else working on one of these?

Not too shabby at all! One nit pick, get rid of the tubing and replace it with clear acrylic rod. Most plastic shops will have scraps you can get for spare change. Other than that, you've gotten off to a fine start there!

Thanks. The thing about the plastic is that it is attached with the epoxy. There is no way of removing it without destroying the ring section. The other thing is that I don't have any plastic shops around here (Which reminds me, I need to check one of my junkyard posts). the piece that I did have started out clear, but I had to scratch it up to remove a logo on it, so I ended up scratching up the whole thing.

It looks a lot better in person too and after it was put together, it fits really well you both of my hands. I thought it was strange to hold at first, but it is very comfortable after it was assembled.
