Red Dwarf X - Phone Prop

The phone looks like it was a normal office phone with a cord by the look of the socket at the bottom. Probably something one of them had on hand.
 
Well found - yup, it's a Binatone Trend.

Really cheap phone available here at around £5.99 new.

I THINK they've painted it red though. I don't think that model comes in red?
 
It doesn't, sold hundreds of these in my last job :D I think they filled and redrilled the earpiece to remove the binatone logo though :)
 
Thanks Philly. Yes, I've only seen it in silver, white or black.

I just snagged a silver one for £4.98 shipped on eBay - I'm going to give this prop a go, just for fun.

Taking it apart and repainting it should be easy enough - just need to figure out what's been added as the antennae.
 
The top is a socket, guessing around 15-18mm and what looks like a car antenna jammed inside it :)
