Recaster Alert Supernatural Colt

This showed up on eBay: Supernatural The Colt Movie Prop Model Kit | eBay

It's not Ozy selling it. The auction states "DISPATCH TIME: This item is made to order and requires a 10 day lead time, if you require your item urgently please contact me before placing your bid."

If it's not one Ozy cast, then if it takes 10 days to make then someone is running a copy of his Colt.

The business information, posted publicly on eBay, is:

[h=2]Business seller information[/h]

86 Camden High Street
Camden
NW1 0AA London, London
UK

Is this you, TDKOGC?

That address is for a branch of Subway,

SUBWAY - Eat Fresh | Store | 86 Camden High Street

although the postcode is wrong, NW1 0AA is "Bayham Street" which a quick google map search shows is the next road along from Camden High Street, the correct postcode is NW1 0LT. Could be someone who works at Subway?

The mods may have been pm'd sufficient evidence that it was him and they didn't want to make another thread like the Snikt Shop one and drag it out. Who knows.

It'd be interesting to know what the evidence was considering he lives nowhere near London and never bought a grapple gun off GG. From the information posted on this thread there isn't anything that links him to that ebay seller. Fair enough if there is some more evidence we don't know about and if he is the recaster then he should be banned, but but i hope it was based on more than just the fact he bought a colt and he lives in the UK as branding someone a recaster based on that alone would be unfair.

As one of the people who was actually recast, I would sure like to know how this played out. If the guy was banned for recasting, I think we should all at least get to hear the evidence???

Life lesson learned, don't be the only person on a particular continent to buy something from the JY.

I'm more bothered by the fact that most of the pictures used on the recaster's ebay site are pics stolen from other sources... so in fact - unless you order a model from him - how do you know that what you are ACTUALLY getting is a recast of a RPF member's item - and not just his own crappy attempt - or a recast of another version by someone else... If people are going to publicly accuse people - then the grown up mature thing to do would be to do follow up. But to ban the guy - was he banned for being a recaster? Was he banned because he wrote a post telling Oz to "f" off (not saying that happened - but we do know a few of his posts were deleted)? In any case - without judge or jury or evidence - he's now got a rep as a recaster. All in all - I think this was handled VERY poorly.

We are not supposed to talk about banned members but here is what I know:

Last week he contacted me asking about "etiquette" around here. He basically asked me if it would be ok to do a run of Lawgivers if he made his own master- as if I had some sort of monopoly on them. (It wasn't clear at first if he wanted to base it off our kit or not... he talked about making and offering airsoft "shells" and mentioned he had a "designer" that helped him with 3d files.) I told him that it was fine as long as it wasn't in any way based on our work. Seems like an odd thing for a recaster to do (unless perhaps it was an attempt to pre-establish innocence?) While none of this really goes anywhere towards proving he is a recaster, I had an odd gut reaction to the exchange (for whatever that's worth) but then, I've gotten some seriously odd inquiries over the years!

He contacted me (on his own initiative) via PM to proclaim his innocence after this thread went live and I told him that I wouldn't judge him unless he was proven guilty. As a precaution, we stopped his Oblivion pistol order. He also shut down his facebook page as soon as this thread was posted- when I questioned him about it he said it was to protect his business and family.

The London address is likely bogus, whomever it is. Camden High street is a well known place and so a good choice if you want to fool ebay. Also, it is very likely that recasters out there work together- especially if they have been banned from here. (If you were a recaster, wouldn't you get one of your mates to get an account here and start buying things for you?) TDK may not be "prop-tributes" but he COULD be supplying props for recasting.

The ban log doesn't yet list his name, hopefully the mods will chime in with some confirmation. If this IS the guy behind prop-tributes then he's got some interesting things to look forward to, 'cause I aim to stop this guy. (I really hope everyone fills in and sends those NOCI forms to ebay. If enough people react to the guy they have to shut him down.)

All I know is that from now on, any runs I am a part of will demand a real address (and phone number) that can be verified unless the person is known to me.

I've got a free prop says there was a sock puppet involved.

And on an unrelated note... Yay, I don't feel like I got hit by a bus today! :D
