We are not supposed to talk about banned members but here is what I know:
Last week he contacted me asking about "etiquette" around here. He basically asked me if it would be ok to do a run of Lawgivers if he made his own master- as if I had some sort of monopoly on them. (It wasn't clear at first if he wanted to base it off our kit or not... he talked about making and offering airsoft "shells" and mentioned he had a "designer" that helped him with 3d files.) I told him that it was fine as long as it wasn't in any way based on our work. Seems like an odd thing for a recaster to do (unless perhaps it was an attempt to pre-establish innocence?) While none of this really goes anywhere towards proving he is a recaster, I had an odd gut reaction to the exchange (for whatever that's worth) but then, I've gotten some seriously odd inquiries over the years!
He contacted me (on his own initiative) via PM to proclaim his innocence after this thread went live and I told him that I wouldn't judge him unless he was proven guilty. As a precaution, we stopped his Oblivion pistol order. He also shut down his facebook page as soon as this thread was posted- when I questioned him about it he said it was to protect his business and family.
The London address is likely bogus,
whomever it is. Camden High street is a well known place and so a good choice if you want to fool ebay. Also, it is very likely that recasters out there work together- especially if they have been banned from here. (If you were a recaster, wouldn't you get one of your mates to get an account here and start buying things for you?) TDK may not be "prop-tributes" but he COULD be supplying props for recasting.
The ban log doesn't yet list his name, hopefully the mods will chime in with some confirmation. If this IS the guy behind prop-tributes then he's got some interesting things to look forward to, 'cause I aim to stop this guy. (I really hope everyone fills in and sends those NOCI forms to ebay. If enough people react to the guy they have to shut him down.)
All I know is that from now on, any runs I am a part of will demand a real address (and phone number) that can be verified unless the person is known to me.
It'd be interesting to know what the evidence was considering he lives nowhere near London and never bought a grapple gun off GG. From the information posted on this thread there isn't anything that links him to that ebay seller. Fair enough if there is some more evidence we don't know about and if he is the recaster then he should be banned, but but i hope it was based on more than just the fact he bought a colt and he lives in the UK as branding someone a recaster based on that alone would be unfair.
