    Aug 20, 2012 - r2d2 gripping claw #1

Hello I was going to build a gripping claw for my 1:1 scaled R2D2 and I was wondering if anybody had any ideas of how to build one? II don't want to buy a kit run (when they have run kits too expensive for my budget). I just need to find something that would be suitable for the claw itself, all the other parts I should be able to kitbash.

    Thanks Ryan.

What about a resin one? They usually make parts in resin and they cost a lot less than the aluminum ones.

I haven't seen any posting for resin ones. I would definitely be interested in a resin one if they were available.

This little dude is great. I just bought it for my boy's birthday. We had to put it all together, but it was so simple that my son (8 yrs) could do most of it. Best of all, it is modular, in the way it is put together. The manual lists each part of the arm so that you can order replacements from them.

It might be worth looking into if you want a working gripper arm.

I'm going to buy this one as soon as I can afford it (bought quite a few items for R2 already). Thanks

I don't keep up with the R2 boards anymore so I'm not sure if they make a resin version. Seems like the used to make every part in resin as well as metal.
