Sep 9, 2009 - Question about HMS and SD studios Cage Lasers #1

I don't know if any of you guys own both of these props. But, if you do. Can someone tell me how the metal parts compare in terms of size? Are the HMS aluminum and brass parts comperable in size to the SD studios parts. Would the metal parts from a HMS laser work on the body and grip from SD studios or would the combination look weird?

    Thanks a lot

Actually I no longer have my HMS kit from Rodd.com so I can't measure, but my CaptJTK metal is pretty close to the SDstudios at least in diameter. SD is spot on to the Jein prop, so take that as accurate.

The Capt JTK has the emitter holes in different places and lacks some beveling that the SD has. And the JTK has got a 90 degree square pattern for knurling while the SD has a different angle. But I think you could get away with putting CaptJTK metal on the SD body and have a "decent" replica.
